POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Two years.
Twelve countries.
28 flights.

And yet, when I think back… it’s never the flights or the destinations that stay with me.

It’s you.

The way you fell asleep in our laps between airports.
Your first wobbly steps in Madeira.
Crawling around a mountain hut in Reschen like it was your own little world.
Hours spent chasing pigeons in every place we visited.
And sand — always sand — thrown into the ocean like it was your life’s mission.

All these small moments that somehow became everything.

Travel gave us so many beautiful memories.
But watching you discover the world was always my favorite part. 🤍

Tomorrow… we add country number 13. by @explorer_dori

I was scared becoming a mom would mean putting a pause on adventures.

That the mountains would be replaced by routines.
That travel would have to wait “until he’s older.”

And yes — everything changed.

It’s slower.
It’s louder.
It’s snack breaks and early bedtimes.

But adventure didn’t end.

It just looks different now.

And honestly?
It feels even more meaningful.

If you’re an outdoor mom who doesn’t want to give it up —
you’re in the right place 🤍

No one warned me that skiing would look like this after kids.

And honestly?
It’s slower.
It’s messier.
It’s less time on the slopes.
But it’s also the most fun I’ve ever had on a mountain and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Tag your ski mom friends 🤍 & follow for more family ski content 🫶🏼⛷️

🇬🇧 Pumpkins, autumn sunshine and a little family adventure near Frankfurt 🎃🍂

Paul’s Bauernhof in Hofheim-Wallau was our favourite spot for autumn vibes: pumpkin displays, a corn maze, a tractor to sit on and a jumping pillow.

Ericeira with a toddler: beaches & play 🩵 Part 1

After five visits, these are the places we keep coming back to as a family:

🌊 Foz do Lizandro is our favourite for a full beach day with 🧸. It’s easiest for us by car, with parking close to the beach, a boardwalk, places to eat and umbrellas in season. The river shallows can be lovely for splashing, depending on the tide and conditions.

🏖️ Praia do Sul is our easy beach day from town. We can walk there with the stroller, stop for food nearby and sometimes find a shallow pool at the northern end for swimming.

🏄‍♀️ São Julião is the wild, beautiful one—and a favourite of mine for surf. We drive there, bring our own shade and go for the scenery as much as the beach. The waves can be powerful, so I wouldn’t plan on a calm toddler swim.

For a break from the sand, we love 🛝 Parque Infantil Santa Marta for its little playhouses, swings, some shade and ocean view. This trip, 🧸 also painted a fish at JoA Jogos d’Arte 🎨 to bring home. Check their current programme for activities suited to your child’s age.

We find Ericeira walkable and used our stroller throughout. Some streets are steep or cobbled, though, so the ride can be bumpy—and it can get windy by the coast. Beach facilities and rentals can vary by season, so it’s worth checking before you go.

Save this for your Ericeira trip 🤍

15 days in Portugal, in pictures 🩵

From Estoril and Ericeira to Aljezur and Sagres—and one last early-morning surf before flying home.

Hours at the beach building sandcastles and running away from the waves. Surf sessions for me—and even for Kevin. Slow pool afternoons where 🧸 wanted to “nochmal tauchen” for hours. Sunset dinners, „mehr Lovilenöl“ , long walks, great coffee and tiny cars carefully lined up wherever we went.

But most of all, the slow family moments in between—the ones that don’t always look spectacular, yet somehow become the memories we carry home.

Portugal keeps drawing us back. Not only because it’s beautiful, but because people are genuinely warm with children and we never feel like strangers here. Perhaps that’s why leaving is always so hard🤍.

Home again, but already with saudades de Portugal: for the ocean, the warmth, the unhurried family days and the version of us that seems to exist there.

Save this for your own Portugal family trip. I’ll be sharing more of the places we genuinely loved—from toddler-friendly stays and beaches to our favourite coffee and food stops🤍.

Before becoming parents, we used to fill our holidays with activities—always chasing the next highlight.

Travelling with our son has taught us to slow down and appreciate the smaller, everyday moments too 🤍

Three things that helped us:

1. Take turns doing what we love.
We both get time for our own hobbies, while the other enjoys one-on-one time with 🧸 . We love being together, and we also love having a little time for ourselves.
2. Let him explore at his own pace.
For him, a few rocks, a little ramp or something interesting along the path can be an adventure. We’re learning to leave room for those moments.
3. Plan less, stay flexible.
Usually just one planned activity a day, with the rest left open. Time to explore a little longer or slow down when he’s tired—and less pressure for all of us.

We still love adventures. We’ve just learned that the little moments can become holiday highlights too.

Every time we arrive in Ericeira, I get the same feeling: I never want to leave again 🥹

We’ve travelled to so many beautiful places, but there’s something about Ericeira that keeps pulling us back.

Maybe it’s the ocean, the sunsets, the slow mornings—or simply the way life feels here. Trip no. 5, and it still feels just as special🤍

This time, we’re travelling through Portugal for two weeks with our toddler—including one week back in Ericeira.

Planning Portugal with a toddler? Add Ericeira to your route. 🤍

We originally came here for the surf, but five visits later, it has become one of our favourite places as a family too: beautiful beaches, a walkable old town, creative activities for little ones, relaxed places to eat and that slower rhythm we always miss when we leave.

This was already our second visit this year. We’ve spent 26 days here in 2026 alone—and 42 days across five trips altogether. Somehow, we’re still never quite ready to leave.

There is no photo of the moment I want to remember forever 🤍

On the day we arrived and finally made it to the lake, we went straight in together. We played a game: I would dive beneath the water while holding him up above me.

Every time I came back up, he was waiting for me—laughing with pure joy, his tiny face glowing in the golden light reflected across the lake, saying: “Nochmal tauchen, Mama!”

I remember thinking: I never want to forget this image.

I spent four weeks at Lake Balaton every summer as a child. Almost 20 years later, I came back with him—and now I get to watch this place become part of his childhood too.

Maybe returning isn’t really about going back.
Maybe it’s about passing something on.

we keep coming back to this place in Portugal… 🤍

because for us, it just feels like home

and with a toddler, that’s everything

long sandy beaches where he can play for hours
endless ocean views & fresh salty air
restaurants right by the beach (so everyone’s happy)
a walkable little town full of small things to discover

but what really makes the difference?
the people

we’ve never felt more welcome anywhere else
and that feeling stays with you

these are the kind of places I’m always looking for when we travel as a family ✨

already dreaming about going back…

Especially after the last few days being sick here…
it hits differently.

The slow walks, the sunsets, the quiet moments together 🤍

You realize these are the real luxuries —
time, health, being together.

And we’re holding onto them a little tighter now. taken in Ericeira by @explorer_dori
