BODY LANGUAGE YEAR FIVE

Hidden in the landscape and etched into memory. Rhythms pulse through movement, through bodies, through something older than words. Daylight dissolves into the night sky, sound bends perception, and people communicate in an unspoken language.

Through June 26-27th, dancers will once again gather on the South Shore of Nova Scotia for the fifth edition of Body Language.

Our fifth rendition of Body Language is fast approaching. We’re all set to present you with this years lineup next week!

It’s also less than two months until we meet under the mystique of the chandelier, which will be making its return above our dance floor. It’s simply too beautiful to not bring back.

⤷ Nova Scotian collective @exploriasound and the team behind Body Language festival is back in town with another late night instalment at Système.

This time, they welcome Canada-born, Berlin-based @westside_florist - who heads @p12_pavilion, a label focused on exploring the techy and spacey realms of house. Florist is known for his expansive record bag of house + techno which rarely stays in one corner.

Joining Florist is Montreal’s @evita_la_dolce who is one of the figures behind @le_sunday_service and @serpentine_monamour, and Exploria’s own Percwerk.

10pm - 6am

With each passing year, our dreams carry us somewhere new.

Trellis

This was the first year that we gave a second stage a shot. Designed and built by our friends and long time collaborators @joshmckenna @jarekstrecko & @loganpmac

Thanks to the DJs who provided the perfect sonic journeys to christen the Trellis

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came to BL5 and helped created an unforgettable experience. Whether we realize it or not, we’re all a part of a special community of likeminded folks who take care of one another and collectively create an atmosphere that is hard to replicate.

Moments like these are what we’ll fondly look back upon throughout our lives.

Chandelier is our main stage and dance floor, aptly named for the large decorative installation suspended overhead.

Originally created for last year’s Body Language by our lead artistic director @cam___peck, the piece is composed of hundreds of precisely cut wooden strips, metal hooks, a plastic layer, and a mirror. Acting as both reflector and prism, it captures the people beneath it while scattering light throughout the space, transforming the dance floor into something immersive and alive. by @exploriasound
