Friday lunch break 😌☕️ Last Friday, we mixed up the usual WFH lunch break and hopped just 7 mins on the Suffragette line to Walthamstow Village for a little wander. While deciding where to stop for lunch, we had a nosy around the antiques at @finamoreshop , admired the autumnal flowers at @petalsinbloom and the gorgeous seasonal fruit and veg display at @bora_sons 🍂🍎 Also picked up a few interesting grocery bits from @eat17stores (because apparently a lunch break always needs a side quest 🛒) before settling on @oneforthetable.e17 for their chorizo corn waffles and a green juice. 🌽 Loved @potterstfishmongers little fisherman’s boat 🐟 Usually would squeeze in a stop at @queensarmse17 but given it was lunchtime, thought better to save the pub for another day. 🍻 All in all proof that everything’s “local” to Forest Gate. by @exploring_e7

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝟳 A little seaside escape, less than an hour from Wanstead Park 🚂🌊. Definitely late to the party but Leigh-on-Sea may be the perfect day trip when you fancy a change of scene. A few places to pop into: 🌿 @heatherbieofleigh – lovely independent shop for gifts & homeware. 👔 @thelocalmerchants – stylish menswear. 🍂 @jez_boutique – pop in to check out their Autumn collection. 🍰 @thefancyfoxpatisserie - pastries and a “best in the country” tea-room. 💐 @bunched.flowers.rectorygrove – local florist, with wreath-making workshops on 24 & 25 Nov to get you in the festive spirit. 📚 @leighgallerybooks – much-loved secondhand & antiquarian bookshop. Later on, head down to Old Leigh, a historic 1,000-year-old fishing port featuring cobbled streets, traditional cockle sheds, local art galleries, and classic waterfront pubs 🌊. 🍻 @osbornesfish is a great shout for a salted chip by the shore, and the ever-popular @thepeterboat for a bite to eat (even better if you catch the sunset). Heading home from @crookedbilletlos may be a short walk in the dark but for me it was worth it to catch the early stars ✨. taken in Leigh-on-Sea by @exploring_e7

“London’s centre of gravity is moving East” 👀 @sadiq This week the potential of Stratford International actually becoming international has moved a step closer as the cross-channel proposal recently gained crucial backing from the Rail Minister, Lordy Hendy & Sadiq Khan. The Virgin Trains schedule plans to include 20 daily trains to Paris, Brussels & Amsterdam from 2030. With the Olympic Park being one of London’s most successful regeneration projects, now supporting 38,000+ jobs, generating around £3.5bn for the economy and attracting 20 million visits annually, there’s already plenty happening near FG. We kicked off our Autumn with a visit to The Atrium 🍂 If you haven’t heard of it, @atrium.london is a brilliant space run with @furnishingfutures , where donated furniture and homeware from brand partners are sold to raise vital funds. Lots of it is new stuff that might otherwise have ended up in landfill. Making it a win for both planet and people. Everything raised helps Furnishing Futures create “healing homes” for survivors of domestic abuse who have been rehoused in empty social housing. The Atrium also hosts weekly women support groups, helping build confidence and reduce social isolation. @emilyfurnishingfutures We couldn’t take everything home with us.. but settled on some crockery & garden furniture, which they offer delivery for, but in true style we instead chose to play a tricky game of Tetris in our old car. Even if I had to find my own way home… Make sure you visit The Atrium (and next door cafe: The Pavilion @mentmorestudios) & keep an eye out for their seasonal sales too. New library: New excuse to be proud of the neighbourhood 📚 OPEN TODAY. Green Street Library is double the size of the old one, with a dedicated kids’ area, community rooms, public computers, free Wi-Fi, bookable meeting rooms and modern workspace areas. We’re pretty spoilt for choice here in Forest Gate 🚆 • Elizabeth line “oh, I’ll just pop to Soho” 🍸 • Suffragette from Wanstead Park if you fancy heading West to Hampstead Heath 🚶 • Changing at Stratford will get you over to a good night out in Hackney & Dalston 🪩 • And we’re still walkable to the Central line from Leytonstone to head North for an Epping Forest walk 🌳 Basically whether you fancy East, West or North… they’re all easily accessible from our little corner in Forest Gate. #forestgate #e7 #eastlondon by @exploring_e7
