🚲 I literally learned how to ride a bike just for THIS view. 🏔️

They say if a goal doesn’t scare you a little, it’s not big enough. For me, that goal was conquering the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

A lot of people don’t know this, but during certain times of the year, hiking isn’t allowed on parts of the road due to seasonal closures, construction, or wildlife.

So, I laced up my sneakers, grabbed a bike, and figured it out. And let me tell you... every single pedal stroke was worth it. 😮‍💨✨Want to plan your own epic cycling adventure or find out when the road is bike-only?

Standing tall at 14,158 feet, Sneffels is a jagged masterclass in high-alpine drama. Whether you bash through the infamous scree fields of the standard Lavender Couloir or dance across the exposure on the Southwest Ridge, this peak demands respect and a helmet! 🪖

But that final push through the “V-Notch” or the secret keyhole? Absolutely unmatched. Once you step onto the summit, the reward is pure insanity: a 360-degree overlook of the electric-blue Lakes on one side and the wildflower-choked Yankee Boy Basin on the other.

The Sneffels Stat Sheet:
* 📍 Location: Right outside Ouray, Colorado (Switzerland of America!)
* 📈 Elevation: 14,158 ft
* 🥾 Routes: Class 2.5/3 South Slopes or the technical Class 3 SW Ridge scramble

Tag the buddy you’re dragging up the Mount Sneffels (14,155 ft)

🚙 The True Crux: County Road 361
It’s easy up to 11,700 feet, but the final mile to the upper trailhead (12,460 ft) is a brutal, narrow high-clearance 4WD track. If your vehicle can’t handle it, park lower and walk 2 miles.
🏔️ The 3-Day Itinerary Blueprint:

Day 1: Acclimatize in Ouray (7,800 ft). Walk the Perimeter Trail and soak in the Hot Springs. Flying in from sea level and climbing the next morning is the #1 reason people fail on this peak.

Day 2: Scout Yankee Boy Basin. Drive up in daylight to spot your route and catch the legendary mid-July wildflowers.

Day 3: Summit Day. Start in the dark to avoid afternoon lightning. Climb the loose scree of the Lavender Col (wear a helmet!) and conquer the exposed Class 3 V-Notch scramble to the summit.

🚫 What’s Missing: There is absolutely no water or toilets at the trailhead. Pack in everything you need, carry a wag bag, and leave no trace.

Еще один Highlight этого лета, мой трип с моими любимыми Казахами 🤠

Йосамити был прекрасен, особенно мне понравилось фоткать ночное небо. Мы как истинные кемперы взяли с собой jetboil и хотели есть лапшу и смотреть на звезды 🤩 в итоге фоткали не отрываясь часа 2.
