ORIGINS: WHISPERS OF THE ANCESTORS

For Notting Hill Carnival 2027

Before the rhythm, before the masquerade, before Carnival became a celebration in the streets, there were stories.

Stories carried across generations. Traditions preserved through movement, music, colour and ritual. Voices that refused to disappear.

Origins: Whispers of the Ancestors is a journey back to where it all began — an exploration of ancestry, identity, resilience and the spiritual connection between those who came before us and the generations who continue their legacy.

Through a series of breathtaking sections, the presentation traces a path from the ancient and spiritual world of our ancestors, through struggle, transformation and survival, into the vibrant expression of freedom and culture we celebrate today.

Each section becomes a chapter in this ancestral story. Earth, nature, sacred symbols, warriors, spirits and traditions inspire the colours, textures and movement of the costumes, gradually evolving into the brilliance, energy and freedom of modern Caribbean Carnival.

But the ancestors are never left behind.

Their whispers live within the rhythm of the drum.
Their stories move through our bodies.
Their strength lives within our spirit.

And as we take to the streets of Notting Hill Carnival 2027, the past and present become one.

We do not simply remember those who came before us.

We become the continuation of their story.
