V-Day B-Day pregame treat: pithivier du canard. Puff pastry encrusted duck breast wrapped around foie gras. Pas mal. Pas mal du tout.

I have photos of my mom where she looks like a femme fatale in a James Bond film from the 60s, and I’m sure she’d prefer if I used one of those. (Sorry, mom). But this is how I will remember her most. With her arms around me, squeezing the breath out of me, one of us making the other one laugh until all the warmth of the moment, all the joy in the universe would surround me and lift me to the sky. Her love was so expansive it was astonishing. She taught me how to love that way, her way, and I’m just so thankful for it. by @exscientist
