E X S H A W—a handmade indigo bag company in rural northern British Columbia.

Welcome. I’m Kimberly Exshaw, the designer, indigo dyer and bag maker behind E X S H A W. I work from my old log cabin, where long winters, quiet days and a slower pace shape the way I make things.

This is where my finished pieces live: totes, companion pouches and bandanas. Useful pieces that feel good in your hands and are made to hold up to real life.

My work is made in small batches using hand-dyed indigo cotton, quality thread and genuine leather. Hand quilting adds texture, while traditional pieced quilt blocks give each bag its own character.

One thing, well made.

Fresh from the indigo vat 💙

This is one of the shibori fabrics I’ve been dyeing for the first EXSHAW bag collection. Every little mark comes from the way the cloth was folded and bound, so no two sections will ever be exactly alike.

Soon, this will be cut, quilted and paired with rich brown leather. It’s finally beginning to feel real—and I’m so excited to show you what it becomes.
