Introducing: @ilesartuzi Ilê Sartuzi (1995, lives and works between London and São Paulo) is an artist graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP) and with an MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London. He received the PIPA Award (Brazil, 2021). With a conceptual and research-based approach, Sartuzi creates choreographies, gestures, situations in space and time, moving images, contracts, tricks and theater plays that toy with the idea of animating infrastructures and narratives. By setting them in motion, the works allow their internal logics—with varying degrees of opacity and transparency—their contradictions and their power relations to unfold in real time. Institutions begin to perform themselves. Introducing: @salim_five_and_thursday @bissara_salim Salim Bayri (b. 1992, Casablanca) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. He works with sculpture, drawing, short happenings, code, and soup. He often begins with a question or frustration about a word such as ‘naturalisation’, a piece of tech, or an inaccessible archive and spirals into experiments that mix precision with play. Salim often thinks about his mother tongue, especially its code-switching particularity where, in the same sentence, various languages negotiate the speaker’s mindspace. This shows up in his work, where sudden switches in tone, medium, or platform create friction and joy. Photos by Gi-Au Yeung by @external.and
Introducing: @tylocke.art Ty Locke is a London-based sculptor whose work explores class, sexuality, identity and personal history through humour, accessibility and transformation. Drawing on his upbringing in a working-class family in Kent, Locke reimagines everyday domestic objects, often cheap and familiar, into labour-intensive sculptures. His practice brings together personal experience and broader social commentary, creating objects that sit between the familiar and the absurd. Through material transformation, Locke gives ordinary things new personalities, histories and tensions, often using humour to explore the complicated relationships we have with the objects and the world around us.
