I’ve been more quieter lately, reflecting deeper too. This birthday was a reflection of that in the best way. No fancy trip, no elaborate plans which is out of my norm. My camera roll memories held it down really in awe of my life. Was conflicted between a solo, something small or a redo of last year. It worked out exactly like it was supposed to carefree, just spontaneity, rest, and some memories I’m holding close. Maybe that’s the reminder it doesn’t have to be curated perfectly to be meaningful. Sometimes I can let life happen and trust it will meet me where I am.
God knows I’m beyond grateful for another year. Whatever it brings may I steward it well, handle it with intention grace and wisdom. 🥂 to honoring my no firmly and saying yes to me louder.

Long story short.. 7 days ago I surrendered & GOD DID!

Short story long… these last THREE years tested me, stretched me and humbled me deeply. My faith always strengthened though. I’m constantly reminded God doesn’t waste a moment, a season..ANYTHING!

I’m a very transparent person, but I’m also a private person. I would’ve taken this win and kept it pushing, but I owe God this public thank you.

Sometimes what we go through isn’t really just for us.
I did it confident, I did it tired, I did it cheering for everyone else, with a smile, and with tears running down my face. I literally waited my turn.. this is the results of failing forward.

After failing theory twice by 3 points, three different versions of the test, on third month, my third time testing, sitting at computer 3 .. not attached to the outcome. There is power in the surrender… onward.

If you need a sign this is it continue taking up space.

I graduated cosmetology school a month ago today. I had to sit with it before I spoke on it because this moment is bigger than a certificate.

Thank you, from the deepest place in my heart, to everyone who supported me through this journey. To everyone I’ve serviced over the last 16 years thank you for trusting me, growing with me, and allowing me to walk in purpose long before. You were never just clients; you were confirmations along the way it’s always been bigger than hair.

God carried me through this season when my strength ran low. There were moments I didn’t understand the delay, the pause, or the pressure but now I can see the fruit of down seasons from years ago. Seeds planted in faith, watered with obedience, and grown in silence.

This next run, even more personal. I’m even more grounded, INTENTIONAL , more grateful. I’m thankful to be in this space, at this time, with a deeper understanding of who I am and whose I am.

Thank you to Paul Mitchell The School Cleveland for everything! Challenges that stretched me, the bonds that shaped me, and the teachings that refined my gift. I made a mark there, but they also left one with me one I’ll carry into every room, every service, every next level.

This past month away from school, I’ve been catching up on the things that fill my cup rest, healing, joy, and time with the people who held me down and prayed me through. I’m walking into this next season restored, covered, and ready. NOTHING WAS WASTED! Not the tears, not the waiting, not the work.

A week ago today I turned 33, Heavy on THANK YOU GOD! My entire life is proof that nothing is wasted. Fifteen years ago, I celebrated my 18th birthday relocating to Orlando to intern for Disney. That was my first real introduction into adulthood. That season came with some unforgettable beautiful highs and some life alternating lonely lows. It has shaped so much of who I am currently.

At 33, while in a season of pivoting I’m reminded I don’t have to do it alone. People often associate Disney with kids, baby….you haven’t done it right unless you’ve been with adults. It’s always been a place that inspired me to imagine, seek and become more. Being back felt like a full circle blessing of how far I’ve come, to have fun during the process and confirmation God carried me through.

To my village thank you! Those that tried and couldn’t and the 14 present. Ya’ll flew in from 6 different states, I don’t take it lightly. I love and appreciate y’all deeply. It was one hell of a time from start to finish. Don’t nobody BALANCE like y’all multifaceted women.

Lastly, TIONA mf JONES @imtiona_nottia I honor you! Love is really a verb and you continuously act on that. You know how important my birthday is to me. Thank you for making my celebrations of importance to you. You planned the perfect trip bringing together some of my favorite people! I requested one surprise party at 21 and you haven’t let up since. I’m grateful we do life together sister.

On this day September 29, 1971 one was born, last year 5 days after his birthday God called him home. Eight years ago one was taken away, today September 29, 2024 God brought him home. Oh how I love those two!🥹

God is so strategic, my entire life has been filled with full circle moments that continuously proves he keeps his promises.

When our dad got incarcerated 8 years ago we were devastated. My sister had just delivered my nephew months prior to him leaving. Our brother had just returned home from serving his sentence just the year before.

This April we were expecting an early release days before my sister’s birthday. That didn’t happen however a couple years back I realized his original release date was set for September 29, 2024. It blew our minds as we spoke on occasions about how this date held so much significance for not only them but for us.

Last year our world unexpectedly got turned upside down. In that moment it was evident how God literally had already gone before us with this. He gave us one back on the birthday of the other. Today my heart is full but it aches some. This feels like a beautiful dream standing in the middle of an answered prayer. It also feels like a fresh nightmare as this day concludes and the coming days follow. If you’ve loved on/ prayed for us in any capacity please don’t stop we sincerely THANK YOU! by @extravagantnish

A very blessed woman thank you God! To all of you who reached out every call, text, dm, and post thank you! As someone who pours into so many year around my heart is always full to have that reciprocated back. I’m not for everyone, but those that I am… I’m for in a major way. There will never be enough ways to express gratitude for my village. I couldn’t ask for a more solid one! Y’all really held me close this past year I needed that! It was suggested years prior that I should plan our reunion and I said absolutely NOT! Two years ago I had a dream about it back to back. God is going to always get the yes when he assigns me to anything. To be the first in my generation, plan this single handed, in a different state with no experience I’m proud of. I cried about wanting this to be over only to now wish it hadn’t ended. God aligned the easiest people to serve and the right people in my path when I was ready to walk away. Plans change decisions don’t. We ended off the weekend with the perfect celebration. This weekend was so beautiful.
