Da Rat, the 1965 Rat Look VW Beetle is able to keep up with legal modern driving but most modern cars exceed speed limits or can simply accelerate so much quicker than a 60 yer old 1300cc engine.

Most of my driving the road ahead is clear. It's great, you can see for miles, but that's because there's usually a line of traffic all ready to overtake !

Da Rat the Wasp Exterminator

Da Rat had a splutter and a buzz a couple of days ago with what looked like a wasp blocking the fuel filter.

Easy fix

Sometimes preserving the past is part of what makes today so special.
Meet Da Rat a 1965 VW Rat Look Beetle. Bought over 10 years ago as an unwanted Ebay for sale advert.

Amazing to think 60 years after first being built, Da Rat still fits into a modern 2026 world.

If you own a classic, share with me in the comments below why you drive your car, even if its not new and modern.

60 years ago this car was built. A 1965 Rat Look VW Beetle you see today. Capable of driving on the roads but not quite the flying car.

Who knows over the next 60 years what technological advances we will make.
