EP [SHAME]은 뮤지션 이명(earring)의 20대와 30대를 관통하는 실존적 회고이자 하나의 오디오 수필(Audio Essay)이다. 쇠렌 키르케고르가 언급한 ‘불안은 자유의 현기증’이라는 문장에서 출발한 이 앨범은, 과잉된 자유와 무한한 가능성 앞에 놓인 청춘이 직면하는 방황과 선택, 실존적 위기를 개인적이고 문학적으로 담아낸다.

앨범 전체를 관통하는 핵심은 ‘양극성’과 ‘대비’이다. 비대중적인 가치를 추구하며 스스로를 크고 작은 집단
(친구, 직장 동료, 커뮤니티, 장르 씬, 대중사회 등)들과 끊임없이 단절시키면서도, 역설적으로 타인 및 세계와
연결되기를 강렬하게 욕망하는 내면의 혼란과 방황을 사운드로 표현했다.

정신과 육체, 이상과 현실, 생산성과 비생산성, 중독, 돈, 정치와 종교, 그리고 서울이라는 지역적 공간에서 경험한 개인적 일상과 그 패턴에 이르기까지, 불특정 개인이 직면하는 시선과 고충을 다양한 언어의 나레이션과 가변적인 장르 구성으로 풀어냈다. 이는 지극히 개인적인 이야기들이 모여 하나의 공통된 지점을 형성해 나가는 과정을 관찰하는 방식이다.

시네마 스코어와 언더그라운드 댄스뮤직을 뼈대로, 트립합과 테크노 등 고유한 정신과 특성을 지닌 장르들을 대비시켰다. 한국의 지하철과 신호등 소리, 빗소리 같은 일상적 필드 레코딩부터 인간관계 혹은 전쟁에 관한 시에 이르기까지, 옴니버스 영화와 같은 연출 속에서 지극히 개인적인 서사와 거대한 사회문화적 현상의 공통지점을 수차례 교차시킨다.
개인은 사회를 벗어나 존재할 수 없으며, 사회 역시 고유한 개인 없이는 완성될 수 없다. [SHAME]은 뮤지션 이명 스스로를 '인간'이라는 개체에 투영하여, 개인이자 집단으로서 존재하는 삶의 이유와 가치를 찾아가는 기록이자 질문이며, 가장 정제된 형태의 자기고백이다. by @eyearecords

The EP [SHAME] is an existential retrospective of musician 이명(earring) 20s and 30s, as well as an "audio essay." Resonating deeply with Søren Kierkegaard’s statement that “anxiety is the vertigo of freedom,” the album captures the wandering, choices, and existential crises of youth confronted with excessive freedom and infinite possibilities in a personal and literary manner.

The core themes running through the entire album are "polarity" and "contrast." As the artist pursues non-mainstream values and constantly severs ties with groups of all sizes (friends, coworkers, communities, genre scenes, mainstream society, etc.), the album expresses the inner turmoil and wandering arising from the intense, paradoxical desire to connect with others and the
world through sound. The album unravels the perspectives and struggles faced by an unspecified individual through narration in various languages and a fluid genre composition, exploring themes ranging from mind and body, ideals and reality, productivity and unproductivity, addiction, money, politics, and religion to personal daily life and its patterns experienced within the geographical space of Seoul. This is a way of observing how highly personal stories come together to form a common point.

With cinema scores and underground dance music as the backbone, the artist juxtaposes distinct genres, such as trip-hop and techno. From everyday field recordings, such as the sounds of the Korean subway, traffic lights, and rain, to
poems about human relationships or war, the production repeatedly intersects highly personal narratives with vast sociocultural phenomena in the style of an
omnibus film. Individuals cannot exist apart from society, nor can society be complete without them. [SHAME] is a record and a question in which the musician, 이명(earring),
projects himself onto the entity known as "human," seeking the reason and value of life. by @eyearecords

Drawing inspiration from his experience at the airport, Short Finger presents “K-ETA” (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization).

Intrigued by the stereotypes and systemic patterns of our society, as well as the free-spirited phenomena that break away from them, he expresssed through exotic soundscape. The lead synth gradually drifts away from and returns to a 4-on-the-floor loop, creating a cyclical effect. By focusing on the ever-changing sounds breaking free from the grid, listeners can embark on a meditative journey. We hope to share a moment where it’s okay to step outside the norm, even if just for a little while.

This album marks EYEAR Records’ first guest producer project. by @eyearecords

About [Short Finger]
His music embodies a philosophy of balance and unity, leads to extension. Guided by the belief that harmony between the sounds of the past(spaciousness) and present(constant flux), and between East(shamanic) and West(cosmic), allows us to escape the polarized future and remain in a state of peaceful presence. He believes that harmonizing these dimensions of sound opens a portal of understanding—where humanity can recognize the balance between opposites, transcend conflict, and dance in peace.

This conviction echoes the essence of Eastern philosophy and the symbolic meaning of Yin-Yang—mirroring the spirit of his roots in the national flag of South Korea. It represents the convergence of his life
as a graphic designer, artist, and musician.

To expand his scope and connect cultures, he spent years as a resident DJ, night manager, and rave organizer. Now recognized by galleries in Korea, Japan, and Berlin, he works as a sound and media artist bridging club culture and contemporary art, with a mission to push the boundaries of techno through raves and collaborations within art spaces.
