Raymundo Tonatiuh Reynoso (b. 1972, Mexico City) is a Los Angeles-based visual artist working at the intersection of painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, and graffiti. He has received awards from LACE / The Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts (2023 Lightning Fund), The Center for Cultural Power / California Arts Council (2023 Artist Disruptor), and the California Community Foundation / The Getty Foundation (2024 Fellowship for Visual Artists.) He has an MFA degree from UCLA in Design | Media Arts and his work is included in the collections of the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Self-Help Graphics & Art.

We’d like to highlight 2023 Lightning Fund Awardee, Raymundo Reynoso. His Lightning Fund project “Means of Production” is an ongoing series of works inspired by the posters and signs that cover the city announcing concerts, causes, celebrations, and community events. The works are intended for distribution throughout the city—displayed on public surfaces such as utility poles, fences, and board-ups—in dialogue with existing signage, graphics, and imagery.

Applications for the 2027 Lightning Fund close September 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. The Lightning Fund is an annual grant for artists and artist-driven organizations, projects, and publications. This year, LACE will award 10 artist project grants of $6,000 each, as well as one $10,000 Jacki Apple Award to a mid- or advanced-career artist.
