Some birthdays mark more than the passing of another year. Today, Marco Savarese’s @marcosavarese_photo marks the beginning of a new editorial chapter.

After years of reading portfolios, editing books, publishing photographers, and sharing his reflections through our Editor’s Notes, Marco presents his first book: "The Other Side of the Table – How to Read, Edit, and Understand Photography"

Not a manual on how to take photographs, but a book about how images are read, questioned, selected, sequenced, printed, and understood.

Asked what street photography still offers that nothing else can, Ximena Echagüe @ximena_echague answers: the human gaze.

Surveillance cameras record everything and look at nothing; AI generates images with no experience, no doubts, no presence. In a world of automatic pictures, she says, the human gaze is increasingly rare, and increasingly necessary.

Tierra Que Somos is a portrait of Peru built from the ground up.

Over more than twenty years, Alex Kornhuber @alexkornhuber followed the country across its extremes, the desert coast, the jungle, the mining towns at altitude, documenting how people make a life from the land and are shaped by it in return. The book moves through labour, migration, extraction and belonging without turning any of it into a symbol. It reads Peru through its people, not its monuments. His monograph with Eyeshot.

What stops her is not Cartier-Bresson's instant of maximum tension, but something she still doesn't understand, something that forces her to lift the camera. The meaning, she says, comes later, in the edit.

One image can capture a moment. A body of work reveals a way of seeing.

Submitting a body of work to the Eyeshot Open Call 2026 is not about finding your strongest photograph. It is about understanding whether your images belong together, whether they create a coherent visual language, and whether they tell something that no single photograph could express on its own.

Submit 9, 12 or 15 photographs and choose to have your project considered for an editorial contract with Eyeshot. Because great photographic projects are not collections of good images. They are conversations between them.

Ximena Echagüe @ximena_echague did not choose photography. She chose sculpture, she chose dance, and photography, she says, chose her.

Born in Buenos Aires, she grew up around a newspaper's photo desk and its darkroom, drawn to the alchemy of the image; years later, having emigrated to Spain, she learned the trade properly across thirteen years in a photo studio, from serving coffee to producing shoots. No academic school, no straight line: she learned by looking, working and making mistakes. Belgian-Argentinian and based in Brussels, she now moves between street and documentary photography.

The street, Paul Trevor @paul.trevor.fotos says, is incredibly generous. Ian Teh @iantehphotography was born in Malaysia, raised within a Chinese-Malaysian world, and built his life as a photographer in Britain.

China, where his grandfather came from, stayed a mystery he grew up wondering about, until a three-month journey in 1995 turned photography into a possible life. Largely self-taught, he learned from library books, Magnum annuals and long conversations with fellow photographers, choosing the field over the safety of an agency. For more than three decades he has photographed development, environment and human life.
