This Juneteenth feels especially meaningful.

As I reflect on being recognized as one of Florida’s Influential Women, I’m reminded that influence isn’t measured by recognition—it’s measured by what you’re willing to stand for when change is difficult.

As an African American woman in healthcare, I have faced rejection and resistance while advocating for patients and my profession. Those experiences only strengthened my resolve.

One issue I continue to advocate for is periodontal disease, a condition linked to numerous systemic health concerns. What concerns me is that its prevalence may be significantly underestimated when comprehensive assessments are not consistently performed and disease goes undetected.

Florida has an opportunity to do better.

We need stronger protections against unqualified individuals performing duties reserved for licensed dental hygienists, improved access to preventive care, and expanded utilization of dental hygienists to better serve patients and communities.

Juneteenth represents progress, perseverance, and the ongoing pursuit of equity. For me, that pursuit extends into healthcare, where every person deserves access to qualified providers and quality care.

The path to change is rarely easy, but every challenge has reinforced why this work matters.

Today, I celebrate those who paved the way, the progress we’ve made, and the work still ahead.

Because influence isn’t about being seen—it’s about creating change.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🤍💙
Praise God.

#fanevent 1b. In Vancouver for the #heartiesfamilyreunion2025 Part of the activities was an optional tour of the city. They tried to provide points of interest that connected to #WhenCallstheHeart in some way. A few pics of the highlights. Way too many to share. If you’re in the least bit interest just message me and I’ll send you a link! Not my first trip to Vancouver. I had the chance to stay a bit on my way back from Singapore for @rotaryinternational convention in 2024. Thanks to my new friend from Utah who paired up and we each took photos of each other along the way!! 🫶🏽 by @ez_iddaughter

Back row l-r: Ben Rosenbaum (Mike Hickam on WCTH), Sarah Drew (Mistletoe Murders and Grey’s Anatomy), her screen partner Peter Mooney (MM) Kavan Smith plays Lee Coulter on WCTH and has been in a LOT of HM movies), Chris McNally (Governor Lucas Bouchard- HM movies & WCTH), Erin Cahill (HM movies and voiced Powder Puff Girl), Brooke D’Orsay-HM movies),
Front row: JACK WAGNER—the most well known in this group of course played Frisco Jones on GH for years and Melrose Place, Bold and the Beautiful and the senior statesman in this bunch-plays Judge Bill Avery; Kevin McGarry (The Wedding Veil series on HM, Heartland, plays Mountie Nathan Grant) to my left is Pascale Hutton lots of HM movies opposite Kavan and plays Rosemary Coulter, and Viv Leacock plays Pastor Joseph Canfield—two of his children play his onscreen children on the show-WCTH) All were super nice and fun/funny. Lori Loughlin who plays Abigail Stanton made a surprise appearance and is coming back to the show for season 14. Missing is Erin Krakow who plays the heroine, teacher Elizabeth Thatcher Thornton—She is married to Ben (behind Jack) and they are expecting a baby, so she opted out to protect herself, but was on several panels and these ridiculous Reindeer Games and Improv night. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Brooke Shields is back for a few episodes reprising her role as Charlotte Thornton, Elizabeth’s MIL (Late Mountie Jack Thornton, played by Daniel Lissing) whose namesake is Elizabeth’s son. Melissa Gilbert will also be back playing Forensic Inspector Georgie McGill and old flame for Jack Wagner to list more notables on the show. Michael Landon, Jr. is one of the creators and directors of WCTH and is a super nice person who I met at an event in Vancouver in September. He is the connection bringing Melissa on the show since they grew up together. More than you wanted to know provided you made it this far, but that’s who the folk are in the photo! taken in The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center by @ez_iddaughter

#fanevent 2. #hallmarkchristmasexperience2025 FUN EVENT!!! Very family friendly… although the Improv may have side-stepped a couple of envelopes but nothing major— just VERY FUNNY! Met some pretty cool folks from various parts of the country and from other countries who are Hallmark fans and fans of When Calls the Heart. We keep in touch here, FB groups or even texts! Great meeting everyone and looking forward to future events. 🙏🏽🙌🏽 The actors from HM movies and shows were fantastic and very gracious with their time. Got to chat with most of them in some small way. Kudos to all of them! WCTH returns Jan 4th on the Hallmark Channel. I’ve only started watching the show since last December, but I’ve been watching HM movies forever. This was only the 2nd year of the HCE and it’s a good place to visit even if you don’t attend or register for the events. Good places to shop, eat… taken in Kansas City, Missouri by @ez_iddaughter
