MEET THE CREW!

Jude Chibueze Meju is a London-based theatre practitioner whose work is rooted in contemporary theatre and driven by a commitment to African storytelling, social commentary, and youth engagement.

His attention to detail and commitment to collaboration ensure that every moment is delivered with purpose and cohesion. Jude’s practice centres on using performance as a tool for cultural expression and community awareness, with a growing body of work across the UK, Europe, and West Africa.

Equally comfortable on stage and behind the scenes, he has developed a reputation for supporting productions from conception to performance, ensuring both creative and logistical elements are realised with care and precision.

Some of his stage credits include Romeo & Juliet at the Trafalgar Theatre, Throne of Ashes at Woolwich Works, Second Thoughts at Brighton Fringe, You can’t find love in London at the cockpit theatre.

He recently produced There Is Rice At Home at the Etcetera Theatre as part of the Women Writers Festival and continues to contribute to a diverse range of productions across both established and independent theatre platforms, further expanding his practice and reinforcing his holistic understanding of theatre as both an artistic and collaborative endeavour.

FRIENDS
A piece about the strange way we drift apart, the love we rarely speak about, and the hope that we would be remembered when we’re gone.
It asks difficult questions about growing up, male friendship, the love we really speak about and why we often struggle to mourn the people we once loved.

This was one of those pieces that stayed with me long after the performance ended.

The director @alex.sasha.shelest introduced a number of exercises during rehearsals that pushed me into uncomfortable territory and forced me to engage with the text in ways I hadn’t anticipated. It was challenging, sometimes emotionally heavy, but ultimately a reminder of how powerful direction can be.

Grateful for the process, the questions it raised, and the opportunity to share this beautiful piece with an audience.

To the ones we’ve lost, whose presence we still feel in the stories we tell and the lives we live, rest in peace 🕊️

Watching Nigerians abroad build like this is honestly inspiring.
