Six months of Luce ☀️

Well… six months with our doors open.

I rented this tiny space in January 2025. For more than a year, Luce was just me, an idea, long hours of research and a lot of hope.

Then a month before opening I met Clémentine @clementinecolombani took a leap of faith and trusted a first-time bakery owner who simply loved bakeries and had only ever baked at home. She came along as Luce’s head baker (thankfully), bringing the baking expertise to this slightly crazy idea and suddenly, I wasn’t building Luce alone anymore.

In March, we finally opened our doors.

Six months later, seeing this little place full of people, many familiar faces and so much life still feels a little unreal.

What lived in my head for so long became real and you became the center part of it.

Thank you to our little team and to every single one of you for these first six amazing months. THANK YOU!

We’re only getting started 🔥 taken in Brussels, Belgium by @ezgitanisir

Why Luce, and why the figs?

Luce means light, a little nod to long Mediterranean summers, sun on the sea, feeling lighter.

The figs are an homage to my Turkish roots, and to my childhood summers filled with figs, sea, salty air and sunshine 🫧

Came to life by one and only @withlogicstudio 🤍

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would move to a different country to study, decide to stay there, get a job, become a citizen, build a nice career, and then, once I finally created my comfort zone, decide to start over and open my own business, a bakery, even though I didn’t bake at all back then, I would have said, “Yeah, that sounds just like me.”
A crazy journey has started. I am very excited and a tiny bit of scared.
I don’t know when exactly Luce will be open but I am looking forward to creating a community there 🤍
Wish me luck and hopefully see you soon 🫧 taken in Brussels, Belgium by @ezgitanisir
