Derek Jordan Long, Uncle Derek, D-long. I’d give anything to see that ornery smile or hear that infectious laugh one more time. We were only a 10 year age difference so being the oldest sibling now you were more of an older brother to me than an uncle. We grew up and grew old together. I remember all the times when I was little and I’d stay at Bobo’s house sneaking into your room late to play Xbox or watch music videos. Going to your pitching lessons and watching you while finding myself in the batting cage next to you telling you how far I’d hit a ball off of you. Having all my teachers ask me if I had an older brother named Derek because I wanted to follow in your footsteps and go to the same schools as you. Going to all of your college games and once you were done pitching end up playing wiffleball the whole time. Any time either of us were in a pickle the first person we would call for some help was each other. To think that I’m not gonna be sharing birthday candles with you anymore and arguing over who gets more of the dirt pudding is something that I will never get used to. To think that Kason is only going to get to know you from pictures, videos, and stories hurts. But to know that you are in a better place now and with your baby boy Nolan is what makes my heart happy. Take care of him up there and I know you guys are watching over us at all times. I love you so much Uncle Derek and I can’t wait for all the stories and smiles when I see you again❤️ by @ezlong25

“He always wanted success from everybody,” Long said. “It’s definitely one of those guys that you want to have in your life, whether it's a teammate, or friend or whatever. It was just a blessing to call him pretty much my brother.”
We love you @ezlong25 ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
