Turns out, to be “creative,” you just have to start creating….

Creating things that spark your curiosity. That provide joy and make you excited about the PROCESS, not just the result.

When I started baking nearly 5 years ago, I wasn’t looking for a creative outlet. I just wanted to pass the time and treat myself to some cookies.

But it was fun (and tasty!), though not always pretty. So I just kept baking and baking and baking… and slowly figuring out how to channel my love, my curiosity, and maybe a bit of creativity into what I make.

Hundreds of bakes later, I still don’t often think of myself as “creative.” But I feel like that doesn’t really matter, as long as I keep creating.

Whatever your “thing” might be, I hope you keep creating too 🫶🏽

✨ Last year’s Christmas Cookie Box ✨

This year, life has other demands and I haven’t had a chance to do much holiday baking. BUT! it has given me a reason to look back on this Christmas cookie box I was so proud of last year…

If you’re still looking for a holiday cookie recipe, maybe one of these ones will be perfect for you! There are lots of different flavors and most of the recipes would be manageable for even the most inexperienced baker🎄

I’ve tagged the recipe sources but let me know if you’d like a direct link to any and I’m happy to share 🫶🏽

Embracing November, the month of in-between… The lingering colors of fall and the first hints of the holiday season. Crisp mornings and long, cozy nights and full days for gratitude. The smell of something sweet baking in the oven… 🍂🎄🧦🥧

For me, this November also feels like a fresh beginning. We officially moved into a new place and are slowly settling in. The new kitchen is still a work in progress, but I love it already! And I can’t wait to dive back into baking for people I love! 🧡

A trick so nice, I used it twice 🕷️🕸️ To give a Halloween twist to fudgy brownies and French macarons!

The exact details vary slightly depending on what you bake, but the basics are the same:

- Before baking, use a little bit of batter to pipe concentric circle on top
- Use a fine point (a knife, toothpick, etc) to gently drag lines through the circles from the center to the outer edge
- DO NOT drag from the outside into the center or you will create a flower instead of a spider web
- Bake and enjoy!

Happy to answer any questions! Let me know which spider web treat you’d pick this spooky season! 🖤💜

Anything you’d add to the list? 📝 #1 and #9 are my top recommendations to anyone who will listen!

When I started baking, I’m pretty sure that all I had was a whisk, a spatula, a few bowls, and a set of measuring spoons 😅🥣 So it is 100% possible to bake delicious things without ALL of these tools. Start with what you’ve got…

BUT! After nearly 5 years of teaching myself to bake, these are the basic tools I’ve found to be essential — They’re inexpensive and may already be in your kitchen! And when it comes to baking, they’re the ones I use most often, that improved the quality of my bakes, and HUGELY expanded the variety of recipes that felt possible!

So with baking season rolling in, it’s a good time to stock up!

And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! I could talk about this all day 🫶🏽

Autumn calls for caramel apples… in macaron form, of course 🍎✨

Filled with Caramel Apple Cider Ganache and Apple Compote…

So you get the flavors of apple cider + rich caramel + a dash of cinnamon + a mix of sweet and tart apples in every bite! 🍂

And this might be my new favorite oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe 🍪🤤

Made so flavorful with dark chocolate, browned butter, toasted oats, malted milk powder, and just a bit of espresso powder…
