Disneyland Paris means the world to me. So does my dad. Sharing one with the other was a privilege. He had a great time. He is obsessed with Star Tours. My heart was so full.

Thanks @disneylandparis for being the place I have individually shared with my best friend, my mum, my sister, and my dad. The place of dreams but also of very real and precious memories. Here’s to my tenth trip next year. ♡✨ My dad on the teacups. taken in Disneyland Paris by @fa.ye.j

I turned 30 last month in my new favourite place in the world.

I had a beautiful day with my best friends. I had a character breakfast at the Grand Floridian, checked into Animal Kingdom Lodge, spent some time at Disney Springs (where I was pixie dusted a Coke “on Mickey Mouse” for my birthday 🥺✨), had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, and went into EPCOT for After Hours. I couldn’t have asked for more.

From the start to the very end of the day, Disney cast members truly made it special. The Norwegian cast members singing me the birthday song in Norwegian was a particular highlight of my entire trip. I’m sure I’ve never said “thank you” so many times in one day.

So many blessings are already coming my way in this new decade. I can’t wait for this next season of life.

PS. The last video of the Luminous fireworks makes me so emotional and I’m so happy I got to see it on my birthday. 💙 Me taking a selfie in my yellow “it’s my 30th birthday” shirt. taken in Orlando, Florida by @fa.ye.j

Orlando part four 🤍

Resort hopping, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT. ✨

I have thought about Walt Disney World every single day since I left. I miss all of it. We made the very silly and very blessed decision to check in to Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House for the final three nights of our trip and it is truly the most special slice of heaven and I will love it forever.

I will be back and I will keep coming back forever.

Thank you @lowerthansam for this bananas birthday trip we shared. 🥹

Orlando part three 🩵

Walt Disney World, my heart and soul. The first three days consisted of Typhoon Lagoon (we’ll not dwell on the losing the phone of it all), checking into the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek (seriously lovely with an unbelievable view), ANIMAL KINGDOM!!! (followed by a visit to Animal Kingdom Lodge which inspired an unwise financial decision later in the week), and Magic Kingdom After Hours.

I love all Disney parks everywhere, I love Happily Ever After, and I love spring rolls. 🩵 View from the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek. taken in Orlando, Florida by @fa.ye.j

Orlando part two 💛

Kennedy Space Center, a trip back into Universal Studios, living my best Super Mario life in Epic Universe, the BEST time in Islands of Adventure with my best friends, and winding down our time at Universal in Volcano Bay.

I feel like illness really stole a lot of our Universal time, but I still loved it so much. I’m a Disney parks baby through and through, but I can’t conceive of going back to Orlando and not doing Universal.

Riding Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges twice back to back and being soaked to the core with my best friends is a memory I will smile on for the rest of my life. 💛 Rockets at Kennedy Space Center. taken in Orlando, Florida by @fa.ye.j

Orlando part one 🩷

Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort was the perfect pick for us and I would and will stay there again without question. The view of Volcano Bay from our room was priceless. We met Gru literally as soon as we stepped into the lobby for the first time. 🥹 There really was nothing about the resort I didn’t like. The proximity to the parks, the room, the food, the pools, the vibe… all brilliant. The banana pudding ice cream is reason enough to keep going back.

I thought Universal Studios would be kind of a lower tier park for me but I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it, and I was so gutted that our first trip in there was cut short by illness. I wish we’d had more time and I can’t wait to explore it properly next time.

Volcano Bay Nights is a truly awesome experience. I was mesmerised by that volcano, and yes, we did spend pretty much the whole night in the lazy river and the fearless river.

I was unwell for the first few days of the trip which was really unfortunate, but despite having an enforced rest day, we still made the best of it and still had some really special times. 🩷 Me and Sam posing for a photo with Gru. taken in Orlando, Florida by @fa.ye.j

Five years ago today I came out. I didn’t really know what I was coming out as, but I knew I was exploring something beyond womanhood, and that using ‘they’ pronouns as well as ‘she’ felt good to me. I can’t even think where it came from. It’s like someone switched a light on, and there it was. I explored my gender identity over the following months and eventually came out (again) as nonbinary in September 2021. Since then, I’ve gone back and forth with different pronouns (as of now it is and has been for some time just ‘they/them’), I discovered after a painful year of introspection that I was no longer lesbian, and I’ve been on a really big journey of exploring what labels mean to me. As it stands, I’ve come to understand that labelling my sexuality is futile other than simply calling myself queer. It’s everything and it’s nothing. It’s everyone and it’s no one. Even I don’t know where it’s headed. Truly? I don’t care. My gender identity these days is similar, in a way. I am still nonbinary in every way. That is so important to me. But I felt myself pushing back against the label when it started to feel like a binary. That kind of sums it up. I am absolutely and definitively trans. I am queer. But I am also just free. I’m 30 in a couple of weeks and I’m starting a new decade with a sense of self that I didn’t have even a hint of when I turned 20. I’m proud of what I have faced up to in my twenties, what I’ve learnt about myself and the world, and what I’m continuing to overcome. This anniversary of me stepping cautiously out of the binary is a poignant one. No matter what has changed and what may change, I would choose to be trans every time. Our joy is resistance. Our lives are our weapon. 🏳️‍⚧️ I am wearing a black longsleeve Adidas shirt with a white collar, taking a selfie in front of the nonbinary flag on my wall. by @fa.ye.j

Took myself to the Highlands to find peace. Found it in -2 degrees overlooking Loch Ness. Grateful to have felt tethered to life maybe for the first time this year, no matter how briefly. Scotland is magic. Mòran taing. 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Culloden Battlefield taken in Scotland by @fa.ye.j

Ingrid died three years ago today. I am grief’s hostage still. So many of my struggles with my OCD and mental health are owing to the extensive losses my family has suffered over the last few years. I am no closer to accepting that Ingrid has gone from this world, and even though I am already doing it, I am no more willing to see how I can live in a world without her. Childishly, desperately, I cling to the fantasy that she may yet be back.

I know she won’t. I know she really is dead because the cavity in my chest aches in a way that you only recognise as grief.

Ingrid was my only auntie. We were born of the same soul, just 25 years apart. She was - is - the most extraordinary and incredible person; gifted in innumerable ways, warm and funny. She was the jewel of our family. And she loved me. She loved me and she knew me. She knew me better than maybe even my parents. And she knew me truly - I thank everything that I was able to come out as trans to her before she died. One of our final ever conversations was her giving me words of support. Our whole 25 years together, she had me. She has me still. Miss her as I do, yearn for her and ache for her and bleed inwardly for her as I do, I cannot say I’ve lost her.

I’ve never been without her a day in my life, and I never will.

My angel in life and ever after, I will love you for as long as I live, as long as you should have lived, and when I join you in the next place, I won’t be afraid.

This little life is not just ended with a sleep. 🤍

Please, PLEASE scroll. She was incredible. Incredible and my own blood. I couldn’t be prouder. Ingrid proudly showing off a vegetable she grew. by @fa.ye.j
