Enjoying the ride😮‍💨

A saying that has been brought up more than ever. Something that has many ways of it being looked at and felt with, no matter the specific automotive background.

My opinion, for all that it matters, it is a very much forgotten form of self satisfaction when comes to enjoying the ride. When I got my first car, I was making $350 every 2 weeks, my car payment was $365 with a $100 insurance, thanks to my parent for helping with a roof to live under, but I navigated that on my own. Minimum wage was $8.25/hr in 2014 at 20yrs old. Having that goal to build that vehicle was at the top of my “dream board”. Took me almost a decade to finish but the satisfaction of just working hard, really enjoying the ride. All the blood, sweat, tears, and “fuck me’s” late night into the early mornings, worth it every time.

I used to look at the guys and girls that have been in the industry far longer than me, and think “I wish I could build a car so easily from the minute it comes off the dealer lot”. One thing they taught me was “Over time you learn from mistakes and you put the right things on first, don’t rush the process”

Navigating that same feeling while life has changed and priorities shifted, is one hell of challenge but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now my wife and our kids get to enjoy what I grew up with. I have a great feeling about this VB WRX, just gotta enjoy the ride again🤘🏽 taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @fa24mike

Thinking back to the variety of vehicles I’ve had since I was 19, with the last slide being my first vehicle.

Started off as a bone stock 2007 4runner and in the course of 8yrs became a long travel 4runner with a 15 tacoma front end swap. Which at the time , I’m proud to say was one of maybe 5 in the world that were known of.

Frs was supposed to be a daily, to park the 4runner. I bought from wholesale when I worked for carmax. 60k 6spd on a 2013. Came with coilovers, exhaust and different wheels. Sold it with a rocket bunny v1 kit and hot pink rota grids and valenti taillights🫠

After that was my 2018 Silverado, had some custom prerunner bumpers made, 34” toyo RT, scs wheels, and king shocks with dirt king uppers. Like any chevy, it had the piston tick/slap due to the eco mode.

Next was my 06 R31 Supercharged 6spd Mini Cooper S. Coilovers, rpf1, r1 concepts street and track brake setup, and some other motor and transmission goodies😮‍💨

More recently was my 2018 Toyota 4runner, was traded in, in place of my Silverado. The goal of the 5thgen 4runner was to essentially recreate the suspension of my first 4runner. With the amenities of a soccer mom interior for the family. I regret selling this one more than the last truck.

My last truck was a 2013 F150 Raptor the og 6.2. Dreamed of having this truck when I was 15. This when it came out and had the 5.4. Did some tasteful mods to it, including a bedside exit muffler with a tear drop tip. That didn’t last long due to the unforeseeable future.

Which brings us to now, the 2026 Subaru WRX Premium 6spd. While I do have plans for it later. Its serving its purpose, providing reliable, relatively fast, fun transportation for the family. 😮‍💨

I grew up into cars, mainly drifting in the early 2000s, then track and offroading in the 2010’s. Im more of an enthusiast who has a passion for these, minus an ev🤣 Thats me though! taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @fa24mike

Thank you to Thaer over at madmonkeycollision for getting my front bumper in and painted within a promised amount of time🤘🏽

Thank you to @aeroflowdynamics 🙏🏻🙏🏻 for the quickness in shipping my new V3 Sport Grill. Figured to cut costs and also give the front end of the VB a cleaner look. To tie it all in, added the amazon special in amber vinyl for that timeless JDM look.

Prior to the accident I installed my @redtiger_dashcam . Love it

I was also brought onto the @overtakeusa team just before the series of events. So thank you @overtakeusa for having me.

Remember if you need any leds and lights head over to @oraclelights for all your lighting needs. Swapped out all my interior lights to leds because of them🤘🏽

Cruisin to the gym for leg day👌

One day I’ll get a proper DJI or similar setup for drives and way better quality. For now, cell phone on a phone mount attached to the top corner of the passenger window with the the camera flipped🤣🤷🏽‍♂️
