I found a Medieval Supper Club in Hackney where you basically spend three hours eating your way through Britain’s lost cuisine. ⠀ Hosted by historian Dr Matthew Green and chef Jack Burke, the whole evening recreates medieval food from historical manuscripts - complete with mead, candlelight, communal tables, musicians, historical storytelling and a jester who spends part of the night roasting everyone. ⠀ The menu included everything from meatballs in jelly, lentils, cream cheese, blue wine to fish pie, and baked apple. ⠀ You’re also encouraged to eat the way people actually did at the time, which apparently means your hands are now “God’s cutlery”. ⠀ Halfway through, everyone gets moved around the tables as well, so it turns into part dinner, part history lesson, part social event. ⠀ Genuinely one of the more unusual London experiences I’ve come across and so much more fun than I expected from something containing the words “meatballs in jelly”. ⠀ 📍 The Prince Arthur, Hackney ⠀ Medieval Supper Club by Unreal City Audio and Dr Matthew Green #ThingsToDoLondon #LondonEvents #MedievalFeast #LondonSupperClub #Hackney taken in Hackney by @faaizfoundit

I got invited down to Village Underground in Shoreditch for an intimate Raf-Saperra x DHL Fast-Track event celebrating his journey, his music and the South Asian influences behind it. The evening started with Raf sitting down with Jyoty for a conversation about everything from working his DHL routes during lockdown to becoming one of the biggest names coming out of the British-Punjabi scene. And this wasn’t one of those Q&As where you’re quietly waiting for the music to start either, hearing how much of his early work was actually shaped during that period made the whole DHL partnership make a lot more sense. They’d also built out the space around Raf’s world properly. There were bespoke taveets from Kush Shah, fragrances inspired by his music from Elixir, drinks, visuals and little details everywhere. Then Raf performed an intimate acoustic set with guitar and dholki, which is probably the closest I’m ever getting to having Raf-Saperra perform in my living room. Very different from the usual London event, and honestly one of the better brand collaborations I’ve seen because there was an actual story behind why they were working together. From delivering for DHL to having them support your own headline event. A new fully halal burger spot has just opened in Canary Wharf. ⠀ Bronson’s Burgers has opened inside Jubilee Place, so I went down during opening weekend to see what was worth ordering. ⠀ I tried the Hot Chick, the Daredevil smash burger, five chicken strips and a Mango Crush … which tasted suspiciously familiar if you grew up drinking mango Rubicon. ⠀ The Daredevil was probably my favourite: crispy-edged dry-aged beef, double cheese, chipotle mayo, spicy caramelised onions and green chillies. YOU NEED A WHOLE CAKE TO GET IN… I found a London social where the entry requirement is literally one whole cake. ⠀ The Cake Garden celebrated its first birthday in Shoreditch, bringing together bakers, cake lovers and people who just wanted to meet someone new over an unreasonable amount of dessert. ⠀ Everyone brings a cake…homemade or shop-bought…which worked out very well for me and my extremely artisanal M&S contribution. ⠀ After the quiz and team games, we had two minutes to choose the cakes we wanted to try. Ad | Invited to the Friends & Family preview at P.F. Chang’s new Westfield Stratford City restaurant. ⠀ A first look at the beautiful new space, a chance to explore the menu and a very good excuse to order more food than I originally planned. ⠀ The Dynamite Shrimp was the standout for me, while the chicken lettuce wraps were a pleasant surprise. The Thai red curry deserves a mention too. ⠀ From the interiors to the food, it was a lovely introduction to their new East London home. ⠀ P.F. Chang’s is now officially open at Westfield Stratford City, so if you’re looking for somewhere new to eat in London, add this one to your list. ⠀ A big thank you to the P.F.
