Belgian Prime Minister, Bart De Wever has tendered his resignation to King Philippe over deadlocked budget talks.
However, the monarch deferred his decision until after a new meeting on Friday.

A royal statement says the king will launch discussions with the different party leaders of the governing coalition as Belgium cannot afford a prolonged political crisis.

The king therefore called on everyone to show a sense of responsibility and urges all parties involved to put the general interest and the spirit of compromise first.
