We’re excited to welcome @ishmaelensemble to the Faber Alt family.

Helmed by producer and saxophonist Pete Cunningham, the Bristol-based collective effortlessly bridges the worlds of jazz and electronica, blending lush, cinematic compositions with left-field dub and electronic sensibilities.

Their acclaimed debut album ‘A State Of Flow’ (2019) was named The Guardian’s ‘Contemporary Album of the Month’ and MOJO’s ‘Jazz Album of the Month’. Their follow-up, ‘Rituals’, earned support from Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft and Gilles Peterson, alongside playlisting on BBC Radio 6 Music, reaching no 2 on the Official Dance Albums Chart and no 33 on the Official Album Sales Chart.

In 2026, the group unveiled Ishmael Ensemble & The Rituals Orchestra, an expanded live show featuring a string quartet, harpist and guest vocalists from across their catalogue.

With a new album on the way and their 10-year anniversary on the horizon, Ishmael Ensemble continues to be a significant force in the UK Jazz scene, capable of captivating audiences wherever the setting.

We’re delighted to announce the signing of Puma Blue, the alias of artist, producer and poet Jacob Allen.

Emerging from South London’s music scene, Puma Blue has built a sound world of sensuality, intimacy and haunting, nocturnal ambience, blending falsetto vocals with dark, lo-fi textures.

This year saw the release of his fourth full-length album, ‘Croak Dream’, a darker, punchier and boldly experimental record born from tape loops made during jam sessions at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, with influences spanning Bristol trip-hop and ’90s subculture.

Now based in Atlanta, Jacob writes poetry, creates short films and music videos, and makes music for himself and others, with credits including Loyle Carner and Biig Piig.

Puma Blue is currently approaching the final leg of the Croak Dream Tour, with dates across October and November, including his biggest headline show to date at Teatro Metropolitan, Mexico City on 5 November

And there’s more to come: Croak Deluxe arrives 13 November, featuring five previously unreleased bonus tracks and four live recordings from the Croak Dream Tour.

We’re delighted to announce that composer, producer, performer and broadcaster @annaphoebemusic has signed to Faber Alt.

Anna’s work exists at the intersection of classical, electronic and experimental music. Renowned for her visceral, violin-led soundscapes, she crafts bold, emotionally charged works that balance raw human energy with cutting-edge sonic exploration.

Since 2023, Anna has collaborated with Mary Anne Hobbs, debuting their partnership at the relaunch of TATE Britain, a performance described as a “living artwork.”

More recently, she appeared alongside Anna Calvi, Jarvis Cocker, Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton and Ed Harcourt to mark the release of ‘Broken English’, a film celebrating Marianne Faithfull.

At the end of 2025, Anna released her latest album, ‘Divergence’ - an anthology of sonic explorations rooted in the human experience, offering a deeply personal reflection on mortality, memory and spiritual transformation.

In 2026, Anna begins work on her third solo album, exploring her Greek and Levantine heritage. She will also tour this spring, including a performance at Minack Theatre on 1 May.

Written amid the concrete heat, traffic haze, hard surfaces and dense nocturnal rhythms of Bangkok, ‘Mechanical Kiss’ is a record of displacement, instinct and contact. Thick beats, submerged basslines and dark electronic textures form a hidden architecture, while the pulse and abrasion of nocturnal city life run through all ten songs, giving the music a harder edge.

‘Held in the Dark’ is the new album by @mattcarmichaelmusic

His most personal work to date, the album explores isolation, resilience and hope through the experience of supporting a loved one through ongoing health struggles.

Blending jazz, folk and indie-folk influences, it brings together longtime friends and collaborators from Scotland’s vibrant music scene, including Chris Amer and James Mackay (guitars), Charlie Stewart (violin), Stephen Henderson (drums), Ali Watson (bass) and Fergus McCreadie (piano). Canadian singer-songwriter Michelle Willis joins as co-producer.

Rooted in storytelling, atmosphere and emotional connection, ‘Held in the Dark’ expands Matt’s sound while retaining the warmth, lyricism and improvisational freedom that define his music.

Puzzle Muteson announces his new album with the release of ‘Stop Dead (What Now?)’.

After an eight-year break, Puzzle Muteson (aka @terrymagson ) returns with ‘Mechanical Kiss.’

Leaving behind the familiar sights and sounds of the Isle of Wight, ‘Mechanical Kiss’ was written in Bangkok, amid its concrete heat, raw air, sleepless movement and dense nocturnal rhythms. Thick beats, submerged bass and dark electronics replace the sparse guitar arrangements of earlier releases, while his exposed vocals retain their wounded, tender character.

The lead single, ‘Stop Dead (What Now?)’, is a sweet confessional but darkly strange track.

‘Frog Green’ from @mattcarmichaelmusic is out today.

Featuring longtime collaborators Fergus McCreadie (piano) and Ali Watson (bass), alongside Chris Amer (guitar), the track is the final taster of Matt’s forthcoming album, ‘Held in the Dark’.

A deeply personal album, ‘Held in the Dark’ reflects on the experience of supporting a loved one through ongoing health struggles, exploring themes of isolation, resilience and hope.

Drawing on the intimacy and guitar-led soundscapes of singer/songwriter records, the album sees Matt expand his musical world towards a more indie-folk aesthetic, while retaining the improvisational freedom and collective chemistry at the heart of his music.

Alfa Mist ‘Live At Real World Studios’ Is Out Now

Since his 2015 debut EP ‘Nocturne’, the east Londoner has moved fluidly between jazz, hip-hop and classical music, building a distinctive sound across six critically acclaimed albums.

On his last album ‘Roulette’, @alfamist created his own sci-fi universe where reincarnation is discovered to be a potent tool linking dreams and past lives.

Following the release of ‘Roulette’ last year, Alfa Mist ventured to Peter Gabriel’s @realworldstudios to explore the album’s songs in a live-recorded session.

Originally broadcast exclusively on YouTube, the Real World Studios session is now officially available as ‘Alfa Mist: Live at Real World Studios’.

Reflecting on the experience, Alfa says:
“When time’s running out and you know you can’t redo anything, there’s an acceptance everyone has and it actually makes you relax a bit. It’s like recreating our live set in the studio.”

The new album from @penelopeisles is out today via @bella_union

‘3’, as the title suggests, is the duo’s third album, but it’s also a record of firsts. The first as a true three-piece, with close friend Joe Taylor (Anna B Savage, Iona Zajac) joining on drums, and the first they’ve ever recorded live.

Jack and Lily trade shimmering guitars and sunlit harmonies like shared secrets, while Joe Taylor anchors it all: falsetto drifting wistfully above, drums crashing below.

Written during a month long surf trip to Lagos, Portugal, and recorded live at Black Bay Studio on the Isle of Lewis, off Scotland’s northwest coast, the new collection is beauty built carefully, like a perfect sandcastle on a summer holiday, only to be flattened in an instant by your auntie’s passing cruelty.

Still obsessed with love, with heartbreak, with what lingers after. There’s sweetness here, but it comes with teeth.
