🇧🇷 É ouro!! 🏆 Foto vencedora da categoria Macro do concurso "Through Your Lens", da @scubadivingmag e @paditv . O resultado foi anunciado hoje e eu estou transbordando de felicidade!

Foram 4500 fotos participantes entre todas as categorias, sendo 1300 delas na categoria Macro.

A foto que me deu a vitória se chama "Paternidade" e mostra um peixe cardinal com um comportamento fascinante. Mas a história por trás dela fica para o próximo post. 😉

E a notícia não para por aí! Também recebi uma Menção Honrosa na categoria Grande Angular com a foto Hora do Almoço, feita na Corrida das Sardinhas.

🇺🇸 What an amazing way to start the week! I'm honored to announce that I'm the 1st place winner in the Macro category of the "Through your Lens" contest, organized by @scubadivingmag and @paditv

The winning shot is called "Parenting" and it shows a cardinalfish with a fascinating behavior. I'll save the full story for the next post 😉.

But the good news doesn't stop there! I also received an Honorable Mention in the Wide-Angle category with the photo called Lunch Time.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially Scuba Diving Magazine and PADI for the recognition, and for all the contest judges

🇧🇷 Sou finalista do Nikon Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2026! 🥹 @comedywildlifephoto

Hoje foram anunciados os finalistas e uma das minhas fotografias está entre as imagens selecionadas para a etapa final de um dos maiores concursos internacionais de fotografia de vida selvagem.

E, confesso, esse reconhecimento tem um sabor especialmente gostoso.

O Comedy Wildlife tem uma proposta um pouco diferente dos concursos dos quais costumo participar. Aqui, o timing e a personalidade do animal são tão importantes quanto a fotografia em si. É uma celebração da vida selvagem e daqueles momentos inesperados que nos fazem olhar duas vezes para uma imagem e, inevitavelmente, sorrir.

Estou acostumada a fotografar o oceano procurando comportamento, histórias e momentos que muitas vezes passam despercebidos. E uma dessas pequenas cenas subaquáticas encontrou seu caminho até uma seleção internacional de milhares de imagens (mais de 10 mil fotos inscritas).

Fiquei muito feliz quando recebi a notícia e agora posso finalmente compartilhar. ❤️

O resultado final sai dia 8 de dezembro.

🇬🇧 I’m a finalist in the 2026 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards! 🥹

The finalists were announced today, and one of my photographs has been selected among the images reaching the final stage of one of the world’s major wildlife photography competitions.

And, I have to say, this one feels particularly special.

I’m used to photographing the ocean looking for behavior, stories and those fleeting moments that can easily go unnoticed. This time, one of those little underwater encounters made its way into an international selection of thousands of images (more than 10.000 photos).

Nikon Comedy Wildlife has a different approach from the competitions I usually enter. Here, timing and the animal’s personality are just as important as the photograph itself. It’s a celebration of wildlife and those unexpected moments that make you look at an image twice and, inevitably, smile.

I was incredibly happy when I received the news, and I can finally share it. ❤️

Final results will be announced on December 8th. by @fabi_dive

You could go on many a blackwater dive without ever encountering a Paper Nautilus making this a particularly rare and special subject for underwater photographers.

Female Paper Nautilus develop a delicate, paper-thin shell to brood their eggs. In this image, Alex points toward the shell, highlighting where the eggs may be visible through the paper thin shell. These remarkable animals have also been known to hitch rides atop jellyfish. With an unusual abundance of jellyfish in Lembeh at the moment, it seems they may have brought a few of these special visitors along with them.

🇺🇸 Second day of @alexmustard1 and @nickmoreuw workshop in @lembehresort

It was a craaaaazy day with awesome dives and unbelievable creatures!

I took this photo of this frogfish in the first dive of the day, using a +10 diopter and @retra_uwt strobes. My goal here was to try to show the patterns and textures and also give him some character. :)

Foi um dia muuuito louco com mergulhos incríveis e criaturas inacreditáveis!

Tirei essa foto deste peixe-sapo no primeiro mergulho do dia, usando uma lente macro +10 (diopter). Meu objetivo aqui era tentar mostrar os padrões e texturas, e também dar a ele um pouco de personalidade. :)

🇧🇷 Primeiro dia do workshop do Alex Mustard @alexmustard1 e Nick More @nickmoreuw aqui no @lembehresort chegou ao fim e essa foi minha primeira foto editada. Feita com diopter +10 e dois flashes @retra_uwt

Esse é um juvenile puffer filefish e eles são muito fofos e pequenos.

Dia de muita troca, aprendizado e mergulhos!

What a mesmerizing creature!

🇧🇷 Coexistindo.

Uma das minhas fotos preferidas que tirei ultimamente de tubarão. Um ângulo diferente, o mergulhador em primeiro plano, de baixo pra cima, com o tubarão atrás e os raios de sol dando um toque especial à composição.

Eu adoro tirar foto onde apareçam apenas os animais, mas também adoro entender como posso usar as pessoas e cenas dinâmicas que acontecem no mergulho pra fazer algo expressivo. Nem sempre acerto, mas fiquei feliz com esse resultado!

E você, prefere foto só do animal ou gosta quando as pessoas também aparecem?

🇺🇸 One of my favorite shark photos I've taken lately. A different angle, with the diver in the foreground, the shark in the background, and the sunbeams adding a special touch to the composition.

I love taking photos that feature only the animals, but I also love figuring out how to use people and the dynamic moments that happen during a dive to create something expressive. I don't always get it right, but I was really happy with this result!

How about you: do you prefer photos of just the animal, or do you like it when people are in the frame too?

🇧🇷 Fuvahmulah vai muito além dos tubarões. Ok, eu sei que eles são as estrelas que mais aparecem nos vídeos e fotos, até pq merecem todos os cliques possíveis. Mas a ilha é privilegiada de muitas outras formas com muita vida e muitas cores.

Tem recifes saudáveis, cardumes, galera de Nemos, vida macro e tudo que você imaginar.

Hoje quero dar destaque para o que quase não aparece nas redes sociais, mas que faz com que a gente se apaixone e se encante ainda mais pela ilha.

Obrigada @anshark._ e @pelagicdiversfuvahmulah e até a próxima!

🇺🇸 Fuvahmulah is so much more than just sharks. Sure, they get all the spotlight in photos and videos, but this island is blessed with so much more colorful life.

It has healthy reefs, schooling fish, anemone fish galore, macro life, and everything else you can imagine.

Today, I want to highlight the side of the island rarely seen on social media, but that makes us fall in love with it even more.
