Whenever I tell people I like to go diving in lakes, I get the same question:

Really? But what do you even see down there?

And honestly, if you dive only to see something spectacular, the answer might be: nothing.

But I don’t go to the lake to see things.

I go to dive.
To be in the water.
Completely immersed.
Weightless.
Quiet.

There is something eerie about a lake.

No waves. No boats. No zodiacs cutting through the surface.
Just this vast, almost unnatural stillness.

At first, all you see are the strange things people have left behind.
Objects. Debris. Traces of another world.

But if you stay long enough, if you let yourself sink into it, something shifts.

You start to see.

The lake becomes its own cosmos.
Full of life, even if much of it prefers to remain hidden.

There are entire landscapes down there.
Rock formations. Underwater forests.
Little worlds you would never know existed from the surface.

And somehow, the deeper you go, the more clearly you see yourself.

So, why do I dive in lakes?

Not necessarily to see.

Little Mexiko 🇲🇽 recap… first time solo traveling and then over the whole world. I’ve met some really nice people (especially on the diving trip). It was amazing. Wir waren zwischen Weihnachten und Silvester nochmal im glasklaren Kreidesee tauchen. War ziemlich kalt (7* C Wassertemperatur) 🥶. Aber jedes Mal aufs Neue schön.
