Thank you to everyone that came to the opening of @fable_garden’s “Missives” last Friday, and also to those that tried but got caught in the storm.

Pictured here is the corner where some of her delicate Suminagashi marbled houses sit next to an oil on aluminum piece titled “Dream Field”. In her work, the ethereal is conveyed visually and materially, through the use of handmade mineral pigments such as lapis lazuli and pearl dust.

Words from @chore.gallery, “Moinuddin’s painted surfaces reflect the state of memory, which “oscillates between clarity and loss.” While the paintings often depict swirling, clouded forms, they also distill and sharpen into meticulously detailed renderings: a luminous pearl or a bend of ribbon. These moments of clarity are little eddies in the dreamlike current of her work; the artist writes that her works are “places where time slowed long enough for the viewer’s perception to deepen.”

These works follow the logic of dreams, the bursts and scattering of memories. The sensation is familiar and wordless, like seeing a person for the first time but feeling like they must be someone you know, someone you crossed paths with years ago. Moinuddin seeks a landscape beyond the veil of consciousness, but one that is intrinsically known.”

Maryam Ali Moinuddin is a Pakistani-Canadian artist and recent MFA in Painting graduate from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she was a Gilbert Fellow, and grantee of the Larsen-Venture Award (2026). Her practice explores memory as a landscape of living structures; a dream-world of intimate architecture shaped over time by repetition and constant transformation.
