Thanks for following my page 😘

For those who don't know me so well, here's a little bit about me 😄

My name is Hanna and I am an interiors enthusiast with a particular love for country farmhouse style, European and Scandinavian antiques and French fleamarket vibes ✌️✨️

As a former vintage store owner, I have built up my knowledge of the different eras and how to style them well, working more with colour, atmosphere and feeling rather than hard and fast rules.

I have mastered the art of creating vignettes for store merchandising, product photography for websites, social media accounts for clients as well as to enjoy in my own home.

I also owned a tearoom and florist business called 'Sweet Pea Flowers' (where I, again, sold vintage. I really can't help myself!)

I created flowers for a couple of weddings and a funeral, plus fully styled and furnished two weddings and a wedding expo with my vintage hire business 'Hunted Vintage Hire'.

I also had a vintage clothing business, selling online and at markets, as well as my own children's clothing and accessories label, all sewn by yours truely, called 'Twee House'.

When I let go of my shop 'Hunted', I created the account 'Fable and Mae' as an outlet for my love of vintage, seasonal living and recipes. The name came from another clothing business that I was going to run with a friend of mine, but we got too busy for it to ever get off the ground!

Fast forward to now and I have fully stepped into my alignment and am living in full authenticity!🙏

My passion for all things 'home' has been reignited and I am reviving this page to share with you my knowledge, styling tips, receipes and my 120 year old farmhouse in the Adelaide Hills, hense the name change to Fable Home!

This is also to see what is available for purchase through my pop-up 'brocante' stall each month at The Oakbank Markets in SA 🎁

My interests include dancing, cooking, mindset, foraging, vintage, flowers, sewing, textiles, styling, travel, cultures, languages, music, meditation, art, reading, world affairs and natural living.

I live with my husband who is my best friend and I have two sons and two daughters 💖

Getting my 'craft on' again this week for the beautiful and lovely @thegatheredhomemaker afternoon was just what I needed!! 🎀🪡🧵

After a week of feeling quite ordinary 🤧 it has been really nice to devote some time to getting creative, something I used to do quite a lot but have lost connection with in the last few years 😔

If you haven't been a part of The Gathered Homemaker swaps, held each month in The Adelaide Hills, I can highly recommend them if you're looking for a chance to connect with a lovely group of women and share some items that you (and the others) have created..it's just so lovely! I am feeling very blessed with my bundle of gifts and treasures ✨️🙏

But spots are limited and fill up fast!! 💐

I hope you're all having a really nice weekend..I'm now waiting for the sun to come back ☀️🌾

Aaand breathe!!! 😄

How is everyone travelling in this last month of winter? ❄️

Is it possible to be busy yet hibernating at the same time? As that's exactly how it feels for me just now 😅

I don't know about you but I'm eager for spring to start and some warmer weather 🌤🌾

I managed a quick stop at the gorgeous @hopebloomsfloristry for the largest coffee and an extremely tasty toasted sandwich! Can highly recommend 😋☕️🥪

And how about this book?? You might have noticed that I share the incredible floral time-lapses of this ladys' account @floretflower..makes me want to grow flowers!! 🌷🪻🌹

Wishing you all the warmth and love while cold-old-man-winter hangs on and drags out..hopefully not for too much longer!!

I absolutely adore these bowls 🤎

The colours are so warm and rich and I just love the Game Birds theme 🦆

The design is called 'Palissy' of England, Game Series. I am lucky enough to have 2 matching trios as well, perfect for winter afternoon tea and treats!

I love having the chance to use the 'good china' for little everyday moments, otherwise it would simply remain behind display glass! The bowls went perfectly well with my poached pears for dessert over the weekend as well 🍐

These pears were picked off our own tree in April and shoved to the back of the fridge in a big paper bag. After finding them on Saturday a bit old and sad, I nearly threw them out, but decided to peel them and found they were very suitable for poaching!

The pear tree is as high as can be and likely about 100 years old and this year gave us a bumper crop! They have a lovely shape similar to a Beurré Bosc with a pale green skin and almost a lemon scented flavour. I poached them in red wine, vanilla, honey, cinnamon, cloves and cardamon and served warm with vanilla icecream.

This is what winter dreams are made of!

Apple Poufers 🍎🤎🍏

I used to make these years ago for my now grown-up children and have had a hankering to make them for my younger son as an after school treat..so here they are!

My mum used to make something similar called Fritole, the Italian version, when my grandparents came over 🇮🇹

I guess these are the German version (my heritage is German and North Italian) but both versions are much the same.

Some Italian recipes contain orange zest and rum. Not sure if mum went to the trouble of adding these, maybe lemon zest, which she used to add to the many German apple cakes she used to churn out, seemingly at the drop of a hat!!

Very easy to make yet feel special and fancy, much like you've created your own donuts, but not as complicated!

Rolled around in cinnamon and raw sugar and served while warm with a mug of tea or cup of coffee, these are the perfect Autumn-Winter cozy-on-the couch-treat! 💕💕💕

I invented my own recipe all those years ago, adding beaten egg whites at the end for a puffier batter, then dubbed them 'Apple Poufers', but they are just apple fritters 😂

My goodness this book is an absolute dream!!
Thanks again to my husband, who I am crowning 'the book hunter', for finding this incredible book by Jenny Rose-Innes.

It's all about bringing nature into the home through plants, botanicals and florals either on fabric, wallpaper, decor items or the very things themselves in vases, pots or vessels of any kind!

I simply love it and it reflects my own style as well 🩷

It even has Cath Kidston's house in this book, of whom I am a huge fan! 😍

Also, I just had to share these delightful plates I found while thrifting yesterday! I did say I wouldn't be buying much for myself anymore but I could not resist these pretties!!

I hope to see you tomorrow at the last Oakbank Markets for the season 🩷

The markets will resume again in September 2026 after winter!

Come visit my stall for country vintage decor, including antique ironstone ware, transfer ware, pretty english tea cups, silver ware, paintings and prints, fabric remnants and more interesting home wares!

There are lots of other interesting stalls, too. It's going to be chocka-block!! 🤩
