Fall 2026 registration at The Acting Studio at Fable & Sow is officially live. 🙌🏾🙌🏾

This fall brings the return of our Core Courses, The Study, The Return, and The Agreement, alongside Studio Courses including The Warrior, The Verse, and The Playground.

The Studio continues to grow.

The Fall Screen Series returns with The Frame, The Edit, and The Set, alongside more improv throughout the year, guest artists, special intensives, and new original offerings, including The Cave Game™ and The Woven Ones™.

Also new this year is Founding Membership, an optional yearlong pathway for artists who want to train, explore, and remain connected to the Studio throughout their artistic year. Individual course registration remains available as always.

There are many ways into the work, and more to come.

This summer, Fable & Sow continues expanding the ecosystem.

What began as an acting studio and farm has continued unfolding into a deeper home for theatre, leadership, healing, farming, education, and community care.

Some of these offerings have existed quietly for years. Some are just beginning to take clearer shape.

A behind the scenes look at IF ONLY. 🎭🌱

This October, Fable & Sow is proud to bring a new work to the Newburgh Fringe Festival.

Written by Jeannie Zusy and directed by Hamp Fluker, If Only is a strange, tender, funny, and deeply human tragicomedy about three people wrestling with love, loss, longing, and all the complicated feelings we probably shouldn’t be having.

Set inside a therapist’s office in a small Hudson River town, the play asks what can happen, and what can remain painfully unresolved, over the course of a year.

Featuring Hasan Gray, Erin McGuff-Pennington, and Tatiana Szpur.

Something new is coming to The Barn. 🙌🏾❤️🙌🏾

This November, Fable & Sow joins our sister organization, WildHeart: Center for Performance and Embodiment Practice @wildheart_center_art , for THE WOVEN ONES, a three day dream/memory creation and ethical leadership intensive led by Hamp Fluker.

Bring a dream from sleep or a vivid memory that has stayed with you.

Then we make theatre.

Through movement, improvisation, storytelling, sound, image, and composition, each participant works with the ensemble to give their dream or memory theatrical form. When it’s your turn to create, the room becomes your company. Then the room changes hands, and you enter someone else’s dream or memory.

Creator. Performer. Leader. Collaborator. Witness.

THE WOVEN ONES is influenced in part by the life and writing of renowned Burkinabé author, teacher, and elder Malidoma Patrice Somé, a family friend of Hamp’s whose relationship to community, ritual, ancestry, and mystery left an enduring impression on his imagination.

We are not here to interpret our dreams or memories.

We are here to discover what happens when we give them bodies, voices, movement, and space, together.

Fall is taking shape, good people 🙌🏾💪🏾🙌🏾

The Study and The Return are officially sold out. The Verse has just two spots remaining. The Agreement and The Warrior each have four. The Playground is still welcoming actors into the room.

This semester, we’re asking actors to train across disciplines: scene study, improvisation, classical text, ethical leadership, violence and intimacy. Different rooms. Different muscles. One practice.

And for actors in The Study and The Return, we strongly encourage adding The Warrior with Amanda Amadei @amadei_yoga Three Wednesday evenings devoted to the physical vocabulary, safety, specificity, and trust that embodied performance demands.

The Warrior has new dates: October 7, 14 & 21.

Fall 2026 is almost here. Some rooms are closed. A few still have a chair waiting for you. ❤️❤️

A branch hit me in the face. 😂🌿

So, let the search for yarrow begin.

Come join me for a little first aid lesson as I wander the farm looking for yarrow and find a few other helpful plants along the way.

Sometimes the best way to learn what’s growing around you is to need it. 😂

What started with a branch to the face turned into a little reminder of just how much medicine is growing right under our feet.

Class Discription:

Soil is alive.

In this workshop, Amber will introduce the foundations of healthy soil and explore the extraordinary ecosystem beneath our feet, from the billions of microbes that support plant life to soil’s role in storing carbon, increasing crop yields, and building resilient landscapes.

Participants will leave with practical, accessible tools for building healthier soil at home and in their communities, including crop rotation, mulching, cover cropping, and increasing plant and microbial diversity.

No science background necessary. Whether you’re a gardener, grower, community advocate, or simply curious about the ground beneath you, this workshop is for you. 🌱

The Warrior.

The Actor in Action.

This three-session workshop, led by violence & intimacy designer @amadei_yoga , will teach actors to integrate the physicality of violence and intimacy into their on-stage performances. Grab, pull, slap, and fall in a safe, believable, and repeatable way. Learn to communicate consent and set boundaries to ethically portray intimate and non-intimate touch. Through scenework, participants will have the opportunity to explore power dynamics and the specificity of cueing and focus points, as well as experimenting with body language, posture, and movement to define a character.
