My top reads of September!

I think I went on a bit of a @backmansk and #maggieofarrell kick this month but they were well worth it! Beautifully written families and both authors get to the heart of humanity without relying on aged cliches.

The Marlow Murder Club has been in my TBR pile for a month or so and I loved it so much that I’ve preordered the next one. It was just a fun read and if you’ve read The Thursday Murder Club then you’ll love it

Happy Sunday all!

The Ten Thousand Doors Of January by @alix.e.harrow

January is an almost orphan, with a dead mother and a largely absent father, who finds herself in the i between world of being ward, almost daughter and curiosity to the wealthy Mr Locke. When she stumbled upon a strange book one day she has no idea that she’ll be transported into strange new worlds, tales of love and of heartbreak and that everything she believed to be true may not be what it seems.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️-
A badass heroine? ✅
Twists to make you gasp? ✅
Beautifully rich imagery? ✅
A storyline that sucks you in? ✅
… and a dog? ✅

Honestly this was everything I wanted it to be and more. A rich labyrinth of stories within stories, a tale of hope, of love, of loss and, above all, courage and freedom. The perfect autumn fairytale read as the nights get darker and we retreat under blankets.

Autumn afternoons are for discovering new worlds aren’t they?

I’m halfway through The Ten Thousand Doors Of January and I’m fully hooked on it. It’s the perfect blend of adventure, longing and magic that just screams Autumn to me 🍂

Full review coming once I’ve finished the book
