Octavia does an awesome 🦁 lion’s roar!
(Wait for it!)

Yesterday, a FableReads book arrived at Manyunyu Primary School in Limpopo, thanks to @karossfoundation

And this morning? The wonderful Octavia was already sharing the story with 55 Grade R learners! 🥰

30 minutes of storytime, conversation and curious minds exploring it together. 📖

We just LOVE this. 🥹📚🧡

A huge shoutout to the incredible humans at Kaross Foundation, who are doing such meaningful work in their communities.

There’s something really special about seeing these timeless fables find their way into classrooms and libraries, knowing they’re being shared, read and enjoyed.

Thank you, Judy, for sending us this moment of joy. And to Octavia and all the children, you’ve made our day!

Some evenings stay with you 📚

From meeting President @cyrilramaphosa to connecting with leaders across education, business and civil society, Robert was honoured to be invited to the 17th Adopt-a-School Foundation Back to School Party in Johannesburg.

And what a room to be in.

The spirit of Ubuntu showed up in the conversations and connections. Different organisations. Different roles. All contributing to what comes next.

Robert also spent time with Siviwe Gwarube, Ndumiso Lindi, Donné Nicol, Carike & Mark Hayward and many other incredible humans. All there in support of one shared belief: that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

And, of course, a few FableReads books came along too, including our isiXhosa collection. 🦁📖

There was plenty of fun too, with everyone fully embracing the Back-to-School spirit and the live music vibe by Bongo Maffin at this annual fundraising event.

A huge thank you to Mthunzi Plaatjie for the invitation, and to the team for such a brilliantly organised evening, around a cause that matters deeply. 🫶🏾

For more than two decades, the Foundation has worked with under-resourced schools across South Africa, supporting everything from infrastructure and school leadership to curriculum development and learner wellbeing.

Literacy opens up new worlds. But first, children need the chance to enter it.

Stories to read and listen to.
Words they can understand.
Languages that feel like home.

Ideas that make them curious, ask questions and want to keep reading.

This International Literacy Day, we’re celebrating everyone working to give more children that chance.

At FableReads, our small part is simple: making the world’s fables free to read, listen to and explore, in more languages and for more children.

Because every child deserves a world of stories to grow into.

Story time doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

What children often remember most is the feeling of being included, heard and part of the moment with you.

A few small shifts can turn reading together into something more playful and more connected.

FableReads gives you free stories, audio and reflection questions to help make those moments easier to create.

Join us in building literacy, inclusion and connection ♥️

We still need help reaching R200 000 so we can reach 50 000 isiXhosa speakers 🙏

📖 Together we can #FableItFoward so that more children can read, listen and grow in their mother tongue.

Huge thanks to @ryanoconnorbreakfastshow and @smile904fm for giving us the platform to share our #FableItForward initiative. 🙏

Somewhere around week two of the holidays, it usually arrives:

“I’m bored. What can I do?”

And honestly, we cannot fill every day with plans.

The Frog in the Well is about a little frog who thinks he already knows how wonderful the world is, until a sea turtle tells him about the vast Eastern Sea. For the first time, he begins to wonder what else might be out there.

It might buy you ten much-needed minutes while your child reads or listens. Sometimes boredom can become the start of discovery.

Read or listen to The Frog in the Well, free at FableReads.com.

What happens when you meet incredible humans from an organisation doing extraordinary work?

A one-hour meeting turns into two and a half hours of shared purpose. 😬🌈🙌🏽

@christelhousesa brings deep experience, dedicated educators and a local and global reach.

Their work goes far beyond the classroom. They help learners build the character, confidence and opportunities to shape their own futures, and make a difference in the lives of others.

And their 25 years of impact shows what is actually possible.
What holistic education can look like. And how it really DOES transform lives.

🙏 Thank you, Dr Ronald Fortune (PhD, MBA) and Michele Wiener .

We’re all kinds of excited about how FableReads can be part of your learners’ journey and growth.

“Dad,” she said. “You don’t know when something bad happens if it’s actually bad or if good things will come from it.”

She had reached for a story to make sense of a moment in her own life.

That is exactly why Anders built FableReads.

A father looking for stories with real lessons, told in a way his daughters could enjoy and carry with them. When he couldn’t find what he was looking for, he created it - a free platform with timeless fables in many languages, to read and to listen to.

Short fables. Big lessons.

It’s not every day you get to sit down with one of the world’s top 💯 most influential academics in government.

Yesterday we had the absolute privilege of an #IRL connection with CECD Director, Prof Eric Atmore, and Charlotte Tinnion from the Centre for Early Childhood Development (@cecd_since1994 ).

Birthed at the dawn of South Africa’s democracy, CECD has spent more than 30 years at the forefront of advocating for young children. Still passionate. Still trailblazing. Still empowering and removing obstacles. 🇿🇦

Wonderful to connect with you both! The wisdom shared and your incredible humanness left a massive impression on us.📚❤️
