Prêt-Art-porter
framed yet wearable dress, 165 x 64 cm
fabric[actions] | tHERAPY | Angie Aguirre
2025
Exhibited June 2025 during @cultural_threads_berlin at @platte.berlin

A framed yet wearable garment that can be removed, worn, and returned.

A vintage dress, redesigned adding textile remnants from deconstructed men’s suits, part of our @therapy_argentina @therapy_berlin 2024 ANTAgonia Collection.

In the whole world our labor — sewing, mending, re-imagining clothes — mainly practiced by women and immigrants, is underpaid and undervalued.

This is both a critique and proposal: for a world where makers work is as valued as a framed piece of art, and where reuse is seen not as a lack, or an option, but as a form of resistance and creative power. Even more, as a system.

Urban Spill I
Garments sewn on canvas
118 x 78 cm and 78 x 50 cm
fabric[actions] | tHERAPY | Angie Aguirre
2025
Exhibited now at @rare_berlin store

Using textiles found on the street as both pigment and message, I create installations that resemble abstract brush strokes, “vomits” or spills.
These are arranged directly on the street or on canvases made from abandoned wood and frames sourced from urban waste.

10 Years of Therapy I & II
Mixed media, 150 × 60 cm each
2022 | Paula & Mariángeles Aguirre

Exhibited July 2024 at @pandora_gallery_kreuzberg during ArtFashion Show at Berlin Fashion Week and June 2025 during @cultural_threads_berlin at @platte.berlin

Created in celebration of a decade of Therapy Recycle & Exorcise, these twin works reflect on 10 years of resistance, reinvention, and radical creativity through fashion.
Constructed from denim remnants salvaged during our upcycling practice, the pieces were first exhibited as part of an anniversary installation in 2022.
A tactile archive of our shared process as sisters, migrants, and makers.

🕯️Our Leather Sandals Monster / La Llorona is now exhibited at @reuse_superstore_bikiniberlin at @bikiniberlin Mall in Berlin. Go check it out!

🗑️The outfit is part of our WASTE IS PRIVILEGE capsule collection presented in a drag-runway at @so36_club last December.

👗It consists of a crinoline and a veil from a wedding dress donated by Berlin neighbours, a head piece made with a second hand leather bag, and a dress made of unfinished leather sandal uppers, discarded by a shoe factory in Argentina.

Let’s start by recognise our privileges such as living in a place where we have abundant materials to such an extent that we can actually trash them.

Recognising privilege is recognising the responsibilities they come with. It is also recognising that other people don’t have privileges, and maybe even suffer the consequences of ours.

Privileges don’t come free of charge.

By working with wasted / donated / recovered materials we invite the public to think about these inequalities and how we as communities can turn things and better distribute power and privilege.

A bit of… 🥁
autobombo
/au·to·bom·bo/
noun — Rioplatense Spanish, chiefly Argentina & Uruguay

Etymology:
From Spanish auto- (“self”) + bombo (“bass drum”). The image suggests someone loudly beating their own drum for attention.

1. Self-promotion carried out with an exaggerated sense of grandeur. — “The artist spent half the interview doing pure autobombo.”

2. The fine art of making yourself your own biggest fan.

🤓 because I’m so happy with my first non wearable upcycled textiles art piece hanging at @reuse_superstore_bikiniberlin in @bikiniberlin mall. (And I don’t know for how long or when will it repeat, so I celebrate right now 🍾)

This and a few more pieces (and one more on the making), are part of my @fabric_actions art project 🥸 go check and if you like, please follow that account 🤓🥰

I didn’t have to arrange this ephemeral textile waste art work. I found it like that. I believe it was only here when this jeans created some value for society.

👖 IF IT WAS A GAME CALLED “FAST FASHION JEANS”, WHO WINS AND WHO LOSES ? 👖

1. Cotton seeds are planted and grown in fields.
2. Cotton plants are watered, maintained, and harvested.
3. Raw cotton fibers are separated from seeds and cleaned.
4. Cotton fibers are spun into yarn.
5. Yarn is dyed, usually with indigo for denim production.
6. Dyed yarn is woven into denim fabric.
7. Denim fabric is treated, washed, and prepared for manufacturing.
8. Patterns for jeans are designed and cut from the fabric.
9. Fabric pieces are sewn together to form the jeans.
10. Buttons, rivets, zippers, and labels are attached.
11. Jeans are washed, distressed, or finished for the final look.
12. Finished jeans are packaged and transported to warehouses and retailers.
13. Jeans are displayed in a store or uploaded to an online shop.
14. A customer browses, tries on, and purchases the jeans.
15. The jeans are worn in daily life, at work, at parties, on trips, and at home.
16. The jeans are washed, dried, folded, and worn again repeatedly.
17. The fabric fades, stretches, tears, and softens over time.
18. The jeans are repaired, patched, or altered, or left damaged.
19. The owner loses interest, changes size, or follows new trends.
20. The jeans are pushed to the back of a closet or forgotten in a pile of clothes.
21. The jeans are donated, resold, abandoned, or thrown away.
22. The jeans travel through bags, bins, apartments, streets, and secondhand systems.
23. The jeans are dropped or discarded on a Berlin sidewalk.
24. Rain, dirt, footsteps, and city dust begin to transform the abandoned denim again.

🔥Show must go on… because we still don’t have enough of it! Go check @therapy_berlin Sneaker Demon at @rare_berlin window installation during this week!

From an Argentinian shoe factory discard to our atelier at @therapy_argentina & @therapy_berlin to a catwalk in Berlin and now to @rare_berlin ❤️‍🔥

And the skirt is an upcycled vintage duvet!

That’s the magic of creative reuse and it can be applied at all scales, not only for show but as a real solution to the current waste problems we have.

The “Sneaker Demon” was brought to life last year by drag artist @reflektra at @so36_club and incredibly captured by @mooderss lens.
Thanks for the opportunity to showcase our our WASTE IS PRIVILEGE capsule to @queerberg_collective @next_top_quing

Details from our Installation “Textile Alchemy” some weeks ago in Argentina 🧪

To celebrate our 14th anniversary, the cellar of @domenica_casa_paseo — home to our Córdoba store @therapy_argentina — transformed into the imaginary laboratory where tHERAPY’s alchemy happens.

We researched on the genesis of our creative work and reflected on our journey: 14 years of experimentation with textiles and other materials. We reviewed our 10 collections and their concepts.

We are happy to move forward thinking about our past work, bringing it to life in an installation which will maybe continue to live in a different space and maybe will evolve to help us find other ways to rethink textiles.
