2025. Year of the Serpent.

Entering my 30s felt like shedding black clouds softening into grey, where hope and doubt now coexist in my psyche.

Travel was a portal.
Reading and writing rooted me.
Lived experience as the centerpiece.
Word of the year: vitrina.

Witnessing northern lights in Scandinavia,
and somehow magically bringing them
back to New Mexico skies.

Europe’s palaces, gardens, and architecture.
My first solo trip to another continent,
Embraced by beautiful people through serendipity and fate.

Entering my dream residency in child psychiatry, my life’s calling.
Held by the sweetest, warmest, most genuine minds in residency.

Music raised me: seeing my favorite band Beach House live,
seeing Sigur Rós in Scandinavia echoing a distant childhood.
The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna still lives inside me.

Returning to my motherland in Bangladesh
and feeling everything.
Coming home to Taos, feeling rooted again.

Building community in town with the Muslim ladies.
Hikes, picnics, shared meals.
Sharing faith, adventure and wonder.

Colorado as my reprieve.
Finding magic in the Animas River.

Leaving pieces of myself in:
Estonia, Finland, Qatar, London,
Prague, Munich, Slovakia, Austria,
Slovenia, Bangladesh and Hungary.

Finding love in the transient.
Beauty, to me, is yearning.
The serpent moves.
Shedding. Becoming. by @fabsabin

chicago for bestie's @izndm wedding.
books, records, art museums, jazz bars, vintage racks, matcha, wedding chaos, and finally finding the version of the city that felt a little more alive to me while solo.

wicker park was probably my turning point in the weekend. somehow ended up leaving chicago with my music taste reignited and a renewed desire to make art again.

not sure if chicago stole my heart, but it definitely gave me something back. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @fabsabin

Sedona is known to hold vortexes 🌀
Places that people believe
carry concentrated, swirling energy.
Like the land itself is breathing in slow spirals.

And then the sunsets.
The red desert turning molten,
the whole sky insisting we return to ourselves.

...

Vortexes, red rocks, and a reset.
This year will be about embodiment and consolidation.

Letting what I’ve learned move from mind to muscle,
from wishing to walking,
from insight to a lived life. taken in Sedona, Arizona by @fabsabin

Spending the weekend in Tallinn felt like a dream in slow motion. Mornings on cobblestone streets, views of rooftops and rain, breathing in the scent of wet stone and flowers in quiet gardens, and nights glowing with lantern light. Between Old Town’s history, Kadriorg’s gardens, and Telliskivi’s museum colors, I found a quiet kind of magic, gentleness and beauty that I’ll always carry with me. taken in Tallinn, Estonia by @fabsabin

Fell in love with Scandinavia this week. It was a series of firsts for me - my first solo journey abroad, my first glimpse of the northern lights in Rovaniemi. The early morning walks to catch the ferry at Suomenlinna Island, the rain-soaked streets, spending late nights alone in food halls and bars with good local music where I could discover music and myself all over again while comfortable in my own company. I am carrying home the glow of harbor lights and the rain-soaked streets of Helsinki that shimmer in impermanence. Thank you for an unforgettable week, Finland. taken in Helsinki, Finland by @fabsabin

Vienna, I'm still thinking about you. 🏛️

We arrived in rainy Europe, pulling luggage through your winding cobblestone streets until the city opened up at Stephansplatz. And suddenly, it felt like stepping into a dream.

Reunited with one of my dearest friends, shared laughter over Beisl Zieberoschbratl, and found myself completely taken by the organ concert at St. Peter’s Church. From the Danube at night to the golden halls of Schönbrunn Palace, I wandered through empires I’d only studied in books. And at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, I was speechless. Bruegel’s winters, Rubens’ dramas, moonlit rivers and myth. It felt like art was breathing. You reminded me of my own taste: melancholic, mythological with surreal contrasts and psychodrama. Then came the Wiener Riesenrad slowly lifting us above the city, watching the lights flicker below in an unforgettable night. A woman played melancholic violin beneath the subway lights, while a man danced joyfully across the street. Sorrow and joy, side by side, just like life.

Vienna, you are unforgettable and luminous. Thank you for being my introduction to Europe. taken in Vienna, Austria by @fabsabin

I first visited the Abiquiu Mosque not long after we moved to Albuquerque more than a decade ago. People often ask me why I call New Mexico (a land so distant from where I come from) home and my mind always returns to that day — to the high desert air, the winding road, and the moment I first laid eyes on this place. It struck me like something familiar and long forgotten, as if the land itself had opened its arms. A friend during today's road trip back to Abiquiu called their relationship with this place a "journey" - a pilgrimage through the desert's vastness to something sacred, perched among the mesas and sky. This is something that I related to quite deeply as I returned to visit this place.

I am grateful beyond words to call New Mexico home — to live in a place where, like the desert flower, community and spirit bloom against all odds. The community here today reminded me that even in the wide, rugged heart of the American Southwest, we do not have to live in silos. Here, among the sand and stars, I found a home rooted not just in earth, but in connection, faith, culture and in the deep, resilient beauty of belonging. taken in Abiquiu, New Mexico by @fabsabin

Weekend in Santa Fe with @rina_raine and @peachezleon and my heart is full 🎨. Explored farmer's market, local art galleries, and as always, surrounded by art and music brimming in every corner. One would be amiss without experiencing green chile burritos with hot chocolate, exploring the NM history museum and visiting Meow Wolf. Not to mention the state capitol which as far as I know feels uniquely like an art museum - goes to show how important art is for this place and its people. taken in Santa Fe, New Mexico by @fabsabin

I love you Denver ❤️‍🔥 Had an amazing weekend exploring the city with bestie and experiencing one of the best DJ sets. The energy of this city is always unforgettable whenever I visit. The crowd was wild, and everyone came together to vibe to Arab, South Asian diasporan and Afrobeats. Music, culture, good food and resistance all in one weekend. #DenverNights #DiasporaBeats #Afrobeats taken in Denver, Colorado by @fabsabin
