Hello! I’m one of the artists in facewash, Clem (she/her) / @sweet.clem.art !! I love working with mixed media and have been especially enjoying acrylic paint, coloured pencils and any medium that has a bit of whimsy! As someone who grew up in the 2000s, glued to my laptop, my work is a homage to the experience of “chronically online”, which I feel encapsulates why I am in facewash. I’ll be cringe forever!!! So why not make art about it and share this niche experience with others.

I’ve featured in various trans focused exhibitions, such as Real Art Generates Emotions “Trans Rage” in 2025 and Hastings Trans Pride’s Blood: The Beginning of Becoming (2025) - but my degrees are in film! I graduated last year with a masters in film theory, my thesis focusing on transgender identities in horror films.

My inspirations come from meme culture, adolescent internet nostalgia…Think scrolling YouTube in the 2010s and watching My Little Pony music videos edited with the Chipmunk’s version of Numb by Linkin Park, whilst reading a Creepypasta. I thrive with the combination of cute and abrasive aesthetics.

My facewash is Mostly Facewash from Lush! It is the yummiest facewash i have ever smelled, I feel the zestiest girl alive after using it :p
