Fresh Kawi skiddy on deck ✅ Was satisfied with initial prototype after ~50 hours, but made a few tweaks to spacing and narrowed the rear for improved dirt evacuation.

➡️For Proto #3 - looking to increase spacing away from water pump while beveling back area under the header. May get zesty and do some secondary bonding here.

Big fan of the Kawi geometry and the ability to run a “floating” setup in the rear. Though awkwardly deep, the 2x welded frame tabs makes mounting a breeze with no additional hardware. It beats the traditional 4x bolt mounting method - which will bind yo stuff up then later fail in catastrophic fashion. by @factory.labs

Composite repair in motorsports is rarely justified from a time and cost standpoint, particularly in motocross applications.

However, certain components warrant an excuse to restore back to life. With only a few hours on her, this skid plate (GYT-RCSKI-DP-LO) was one of those rare exceptions.

The GYTR folks did an impressive job in designing an attractive solution that pairs elegantly with the engine profiles of the YZF platform. But forcing load through a narrow rear tab design at ~2.5mm thick makes it 1 case away from being a $400 paperweight.

The beauty of composites is that you can provide localized reinforcement layers at safety critical features. In this case Yamaha, that’s all you needed to do. by @factory.labs
