POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ve been inspired by leave-no-trace style stagings lately and want to start utilizing the (unfortunate) amount of materials I find on adventures.

This habitat-style was built with found items from PNW stream banks, garnet-included substrate (lovingly nicknamed Fairy Pebbles) and my first ever Copiapoa to bring it back to my desert roots.

I’ll be honest, it wasn’t until recently that I really started appreciating the blooms on my plants. I’ve always admired mesembs for their uniqueness and adaptability but this year, they rewarded me with little bouquets of flowers. I get the hype now.

Specimens:
Conophytum pellucidum RCL 930/61
Conophytum minutum var. lisabeliae var. nudum HH5141

Pot:
Bonsai 6×4 (mass produced)

Some collectors may have kept this Haworthia truncata perfectly manicured. I decided to build it its own tiny habitat instead.

This is an older, seed-grown Haworthia truncata and easily one of my favorites. Its windows have an almost reversed appearance with islands of green pigment.

I’m convinced this trait has a name. If you know it, please comment and make my day 💚

I don’t often see Echeverias in alternative stagings so I decided to give it a try. This cluster has been thriving in this vessel and it’s encouraged me to experiment with a few more.

As winter gets closer, I’m starting to truly appreciate the rockhounding adventures this year and the finds that have made their way into my plant stagings. I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing out there (seriously) but I’ve found some pretty cool rocks along the way.

A little painting session with one of the plants in my collection. Himawari (向日葵) is the Japanese word for sunflower and I was inspired to bring this hybrid’s meaning to life through watercolor.

I didn’t quite capture the intricate patterns on the outer leaf windows but I enjoyed keeping this one softer and loosely interpreted.

Simple staging, elaborate vessel and gasteria cluster. I’ll get back to my adventure/habitat stagings soon, creativity hasn’t been coming as easily.

This Gasteria is only about 2” across but makes a big impact in my collection. I’ve had it for a little over a year and have been shocked at how slow of a grower it is. It’s made watching those small changes over time even more worthwhile.

Gasteria rawlinsonii hyb. and liliputana offsets staged amongst found materials.

My goal was for it to look like life forming out of a pile of rocks, rather than a manicured staging. I’ve been working on making multiple angles of my staging compelling and added some railroad spikes as a hidden surprise.

Since there are officially 1,000 of you here, it felt like a good time to say hi again.

I’m Fae. I collect more cactus and succulents than any reasonable indoor space should hold, wander around the PNW looking at moss, and am finally letting more of my creative side make it onto this page.

The plants aren’t going anywhere. You’ll just be seeing a little more of what they inspire.

Thanks for being here 🌿
