VIRIDITAS EX MACHINA now to be seen in the exhibition ‘Reflections On Fashion’ in Kunstmuseum Den Haag @kunstmuseum.nl curated by @kledingcast Showcasing from 4th of July 2026 until 3rd of January 2027Through this armor I want to examine the historical erasure of medieval women from the collective memory. Inspired by medieval forms of protection and power it reflects on the structures that have shaped women’s lives: religion, labor, authority, and gendered expectations. Although women played essential roles in medieval society as craftswomen/landowners/healers/religious figures, and laborers their contributions have often been marginalized or attributed to others.Presenting an armor designed for the female body it raises questions about who is remembered; who is protected and who is allowed to claim power. It examines the mechanisms through which women’s contributions have been obscured throughout history, and how these patterns continue to shape contemporary experiences of visibility. VIRIDITAS EX MACHINA functions as a speculative monument to those whose stories are absent from the historical record.So excited to be part of this amazing curation of designers in such an important exhibition. by @faieaela

VIRIDITAS EX MACHINAreimagining medieval women as proto-cyborg figures My new project Viriditas ex Machina approaches the medieval female body as a site, rather than treating medieval women as historical endpoints it considers them as early beginnings of the technological age: Proto-hybrids shaped almost like mechanical extensions. Practices of enclosure, adornment, regulation, and devotion seen through objects such as the wimple, chastity belt or armor become a relationship between flesh and technology. Using Donna Haraway’s cyborg lens it disrupts the idea that technology belongs only to our modern age, its perspective suggests the cyborg has always existed in an ongoing inquiry: it is an attempt to read medieval gestures/symbolism/crafts and mythologies through a speculative lens. Themes such as mortification of the flesh and the Eve Mary dichotomy appear alongside sacred womb imagery and temptation narratives.Rather than imposing definitive answers it creates space for reconsideration, and these dynamics resonate with contemporary questions around gender, autonomy, power, religion, feminism and the technological self. by @faieaela
