Having a career and being a mother at the same time?

For many women in Ghana, this is still very difficult to reconcile. A lack of structures, little understanding - and in the end, it is often a decision between family or career. Audrey has managed to combine the two.

Today, she is not only the head of quality management at fairafric, but is also paving the way for a new generation of young women in the chocolate industry.

[English below] Das sind wir - fairafric.

Also worauf wartest Du? Join the revolution and decolonize Chocolate with fairafric!🧡

Meet fairafric - that’s us! We’re shaking up the chocolate industry and setting a whole new fair trade standard.🚀

🚨But let’s be real, the bitter truth about the cocoa biz ain’t a tasty one: farmers getting peanuts, pesticides everywhere, and child labour are the sad standard.

❌We won’t back this busted system. We’re doing things our way, producing right where the cocoa grows - in Ghana! It’s simple, yet we’re pretty much lone wolves in this game.

But we’re not giving up! We’re fighting for change and proving it can be done. Our chocolate is top-notch fair, organic, eco-friendly, and it proudly wears the “Made in Ghana” label. 🍫🇬🇭

So, what’s the hold-up? Jump on board this delicious revolution and let’s decolonize chocolate together! 🧡 by @fairafric

@fairafric and gebana Togo share the same goal: producing chocolate where cocoa grows and creating value in Africa.

Fairafric is already there with their full-scale, bean-to-bar production in their factory in Amanase, Ghana.

Last week, gebana's chocolatiers from Togo visited the factory to see it up close and learn from the team.

Thank you, Fairafric, for opening your doors to us!

More than 70% of the WORLD’s CACAO is grown in West Africa🤯 but only about 1% of the world’s chocolate is made there..

This means that a lot of the jobs and money that come from actually turning cocoa into chocolate happen somewhere else❗️

Fairafric is trying to flip that.

They make their chocolate in Ghana, using Ghanaian cocoa, from bean to bar🍫

So instead of just exporting the raw cocoa, they’re also creating the jobs and doing the chocolate-making there, which keeps more of the money from that process in Ghana.

Fairafric says its production has created 300+ direct jobs!🤎

Now I look at “Made in Ghana” on a chocolate bar a little differently👀 by @fairafric

How should chocolate really be made? 🍫

Last month, we were delighted to welcome students from @ashesi to Amanase for an immersive learning experience that took them to the origins of a product they love.

From the cocoa farm to our factory, the students explored:

🌱 How cocoa is cultivated, and the important role farmers play in the industry
🔗 How cocoa moves through Ghana’s supply chain, from farm to factory
🍫 How fairafric processes cocoa and produces chocolate in rural Ghana
👩🏾‍🍳 How chocolate is made through a hands-on session at our @amanase_chocolate School

Beyond the experience itself, the tour created space for meaningful conversations and knowledge exchange around cocoa, chocolate and the industry behind it.

A big thank you to the @ashesi University team and students for spending the day with us. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made the experience very rewarding.

6 months. Real impact. ❤️

2026 saw the formal establishment of our CSR unit here at fairafric, with 4 key projects already completed.

Behind every number is a person: a girl able to attend school with greater confidence, a student with better learning facilities, a community with infrastructure built to serve it for years to come.

Here’s what the first half of 2026 looked like, together with our partners at CEIBS GEMBA 2025 and ARB Insurance Brokers:

📚 4 schools supported with essential learning resources 🧑🏾‍🎓 650+ pupils reached through educational outreach 🩷 250 girls provided with menstrual hygiene kits 🚻 500+ students benefiting from improved sanitary facilities.

None of this happens without the people who show up for it — our partners, employees, schools, community leaders, and everyone who continues to support this work. Thank you.

Six months down. More impact to come. Visit the link in our bio to learn more about our CSR activities in rural Ghana.

Einfach nur Schokokuchen ... ?🍫😄

We have turned 10! 🥹

What began with a small crowd of early supporters has grown into a solar powered company creating hundreds of jobs in rural Ghana - proving that value creation at origin can work.

And as you can see, not only our packaging has changed, we have grown with it: in production capacity, in team size, and in looots of experience.
(Swipe through the pictures to see the journey. 🤓)

Looking back, above all, we feel grateful.

Grateful to everyone in Ghana who helped build this company.
Grateful to every customer who chose our chocolate.
Grateful to every supporter who believed in a different way of doing business.

Today, our mission is stronger than ever — with one simple goal:
Crafting chocolate with a good conscience.

Good for you – better chocolate for consumers.
Good for the people – more value for cocoa farmers.
Good for the planet – making chocolate climate positive.

Because great chocolate should not come at the cost of people or nature.

Here’s to the first 10 years.
And to the next 10 years. taken in Suhum Amanase by @fairafric
