The number of times over the last 3 months -THREE MONTHS - that I have desperately checked to see if there was a new #DeleteThis podcast episode, particularly during insomnia bouts from Situations both personal and global bc I needed Katherine to speak/slap sense into my life... ah happy sigh at this week’s update. Literally felt like a hug where all the tension finally lets go. I don’t use Twitter, can’t tag the pod so um thanks @hankgreen for marrying brilliance, liking to talk like it’s your job, and please don’t leave us again 💖💖 also officially requesting a Cameo cameo 🤞🏻😸

PS yes 2021 insomnia hits different (oh look at the time hello 👀👀) and yes I recommend SciShow Tangents for more Green Family podcasts, the cohosts are lovely and there’s no traumatic rehashing of past current events (which is why I haven’t relistened to previous Delete This episodes... prepandemic... preTr*mp...oyyyy the positivity and innocence is unbearable 🙈) but the lack of Katherine leaves one wanting

This was not supposed to be my next post. I had one all mapped out in September that continued the positive theme of my previous post. And then per my usual I had a bout of who-TF-do-I-think-I-am, thinking I could ever be good enough to speak into the disability community I’ve discovered on here. I haven’t posted regularly on socials in years. So, I didn’t post. But here I am, because I’ve nowhere to put this one. I needed to speak it out. I am tired and I am not okay. And I am scared bc I was forced into a season of no insurance, scared that this SC case will throw out the ACA and it’s protections and the fucking for profit insurance companies will deny me or overcharge me for my disability and I’ll never be able to access full healthcare again. (Not that it was very monetarily accessible before.) Call it catastrophizing if you want but it’s possible and it’s wrong that it’s even at risk.

If you need me, I’ll be here. I counted the days until this little guy arrived, feeling like I couldn’t step into my “new” life until then. Calendars are physical hope for me. I almost didn’t get this design, afraid of bitterness towards my inability to travel. But it feels like me, it feels encompassing, and it feels appropriate to have that as my first step of saying, no, it’s okay to step into emotions and admit that I’m scared AF about change. Scared AF about the meaning of finally leaving structured work, of finally, 100% admitting that my body can.not. do the thing the way corporate America told me to 12 years ago. To slowly learn that rest is not waste, days can be in bed without lessening my worth. And to forget and learn again until the grace I speak of giving is felt inside. It’ll be hard, and it’ll be made harder by the medical and government red tape I’ve already been fighting for a year continuing, and as I rediscover how to stand my ground for my right to have treatment by doctors actually educated on my conditions, and mobility equipment that does not further injure me. So that was a long-winded way of me saying, I’m 3 days into “retirement”, I bought a thing and isn’t it pretty?! Oh, and DISABILITY RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS so here I come.🖤

I find it fitting that on a day where my body felt so beaten that I called out of work, this shows up in the middle of a literal sideways downpour. Also grateful the cardboard was thick enough to keep it dry inside 🙌

A dear friend of mine asked me to post about the non-profits close to my heart that currently need COVID-19 relief funds, globally and locally. I don't know how to make fancy posts (also normally I can zoom out but couldn't?) So I've been putting it off due to self doubt but here goes. If you have any capability to give at all, I know these are doing good, needed work. ((SWIPE ABOVE, DESCRIPTIONS AND TAGS BELOW)) @preemptivelove
Crisis relief as well as long term, amazing community development in high poverty areas such as Syria, Iraq, and the US Mexico border. Their current focus is emergency food delivery to refugee camps in Iraq that are on lockdown and have no access to food. They also have an online store with clothing and several handmade things from businesses they helped people start.

Compassion International is something I have been a monthly donor to for 12 years, directly sponsoring a girl in Rwanda. They are in regions across the globe and with long-standing relations with governments, organizations, and communities, are well suited for quick and continuous poverty and disaster relief. They have a COVID-19 fund and also a fund to temporarily cover the sponsorship costs of someone who has hit financial hardship so that their child doesn't have to be told their sponsor is gone.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids provides support in times of need to those onstage, backstage, and behind the scenes. The plethora of art and theatre and live streams currently available through out this time have been so imperative to my mental health (both before and during quarantine) and these amazing performers and artists have also hit hard times as Broadway and other areas have gone dark. There's also currently a matching program that doubles your donation.

At the corner of community development and technological advances, with the goal of ending homelessness. They work on a global scale but also in the past few days launched a local Atlanta program to provide emergency relief to families who cannot afford rent and aren't eligible for another type of assistance. So I finally read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by the glorious @hankgreen today and it was so wondermous but it ended (oy, I wanted more, I went straight back to the 1st page for a bit) and I snapped back to reality and reality isn't the best right now and also #AART is giving me #socialmedia THOUGHTS so it was a good day but with not-good moments because my body is falling apart faster than expected *ramble ramble* bad photo courtesy of the actually really awesome pouch by Emily McDowell Studio because it was there and I needed a pic to post. by @fairsarahh
