2 pieces I will be selling @yourstrulymarket on September 27th at the BOK building.

Lead free soft solder (Silver Gleem), pearls, and found glass/ceramics from around my neighborhood in South Philly — including a bright pink, broken shot glass that said "Miami." (rip)

Inspired by folk art found on ketubahs, eastern redbud trees, and asters :) (thank u to native plants for everything you do)

soft solder, found glass, ceramics, plastic butterfly hairclips

A little bit about the process because it has been a really special project for me: I wanted to make a peice that reflected my perspective as a teaching artist and also to process the connection I've had with my students this year. This peice is about the art club I had every day during lunch. Each student is represented by a different type of flower which all grow around the school, and each plant represents a student's learnings style, struggles that they may bring into the class, and the way I have seen them think, move and grow. It shows moments, of chaos and tension between students, and moments I have seen them support eachother. I had no idea how this project was going to end up but so it was all an experiment. Like when you're building a relationship or community you never exactly know the twists and turns it will take. It felt good to make because over the year, I formed these deep connections with students and then just leaving for the summer can be so sad. It is beautiful and strange and my students inspire me so much and simultaneously drain me. I think that using the science and emotion of the plants has helped me find my own language and expression for the complexity and beauty of this experience. by @fairyhelmets
