POSTS STORIES REELS

I wasn't a Programme Manager last Saturday

I thought I'd be a content creator instead.

Spoiler alert: it didn't go according to plan. 😂

I arrived at Beyond Conversation Enugu determined to film a proper vlog.

I had it all mapped out in my head...

But every time I reached for my phone, I'd hear something that made me put it right back down.

Before I knew it, I had stopped thinking about content altogether.

I was simply... listening.

The irony is that I didn't create the vlog l planned, instead I left with a story worth telling.

I left with far more perspective than I expected. Some conversations deserve your presence more than your camera.

So yes, my vlog didn't quite happen the way I imagined, but I wouldn't trade that experience for a perfectly edited reel.

Thank you, @elicnwa for a conversation that was impossible to scroll past even in real life.

Lately, I’ve been embracing the soft joy of just… being myself.
And if there’s one thing that always feels like home, it’s my natural hair. (Yes, I'm a hair enthusiast 😩)

I love how it mirrors my life as a program manager versatile, intentional, full of twists and turns (literally 😄). Whether I’m coordinating projects, designing community programs, or running around at events, my hair is right there with me… styled, stretched, puffed, or freestyling its own agenda.

My natural hair has taught me softness, patience, and intentionality… the same qualities I carry into my journey as a program manager. Every day, I show up for communities, for women and girls, and for myself learning, unlearning, and choosing growth.

This post isn’t really about hair.
It’s about identity.
It’s about embracing every part of me the professional, the creative, the advocate, the woman who is still unfolding.

PS: who else can rock their natural hair to perform the "maid of honour" duties?☺️

At 16, she should be worrying about her exams, her favourite subject, the dream she can’t stop talking about, or what she wants to become someday.

Not whether she’s running out of time to get married.

Somewhere, a girl is being told to grow up before she has even had the chance to be a child. Somewhere, her dreams are being negotiated, her choices are being made for her, and her future is being decided without her voice.

And perhaps the saddest part is that some of us have become so used to this that we no longer question it.

But what if, instead of asking her when she will marry, we asked what she wants to learn?

What if, instead of preparing her for a life she never chose, we gave her the tools to build one she believes in?

Girls do not need to be rushed into adulthood. They need safe spaces, quality education, access to healthcare, opportunities, and the freedom to imagine a future bigger than their circumstances.

A girl is not running out of time. She is growing. Let her.

This International Day of the Girl Child, let’s go beyond celebrating girls with beautiful words and begin creating a world where they can actually thrive.

September, please 🥺 we’re not doing too much.

I'm already feeling the load of work September is bringing😩😩 anyways...

No pressure to have it all figured out.
No dramatic reinvention.

Just more intention, more grace, meaningful work, and room to actually enjoy the little things.

Happy New Month!

At this point, I don’t need a motivational speech.
I need rest, good food, zero urgent messages and absolutely no “quick thing”. 😭

This week came with meetings, deadlines, unexpected plot twists and a few moments where “I’ll handle it” was doing some serious heavy lifting. 😂

But hey… we made it.

Now, respectfully, let me enjoy my weekend before Monday starts sending threatening emails. 😂

I've been thinking about how much of meaningful work happens quietly.

The conversations that don't get photographed.

The follow-up calls.

The planning meetings.

The little adjustments made because the original plan doesn't quite fit someone's reality.

The relationships that take time to build.

The things you do simply because they need to be done.

Working in programmes has made me realise that impact isn't always something you can capture in a picture.

Sometimes, the most meaningful work is the work nobody sees.

And maybe that's okay because not everything meaningful needs to be announced.

Some things just need to be done with intention, with care, and with people at the centre.

Seriously, just do the work and let the impact speak for itself.

What is one piece of invisible work you think deserves more recognition?

What does it really mean to be a humanitarian?

Sometimes, it is a health worker providing care.
A volunteer distributing food.
A social worker protecting a child.
A development worker, curating programs to suit a community's needs.
A community member checking on a vulnerable neighbour.
Someone simply refusing to look away.

Humanitarian work doesn't have to be dramatic. Humanity is not just about caring. It is about showing up and behind every response is a person who believes that someone’s life, dignity and wellbeing matter.

Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we honour the people who choose to show up when others are facing crisis, displacement, hunger, violence, illness, or uncertainty.

This World Humanitarian Day, may we remember that humanity is not just a feeling, it is a responsibility:

To care.
To act.
To protect.
To speak up.
To show up.

Happy World Humanitarian Day.

Growth has taught me that not everything I once believed about success, work, and showing up was actually true. Some things had to be unlearned first.

What’s one thing you’re currently unlearning?

People see the event.
The photos.
The smiles.
The final outcome.

But behind every successful programme is a lot of work that rarely makes it to the camera: planning, coordination, communication, problem-solving, follow-ups, teamwork, and sometimes figuring things out as you go. 😅

I’m learning that programme management is not just about getting things done. It’s about people, purpose, adaptability, and making sure the work actually creates value.

And honestly? The behind-the-scenes is where some of the most important work happens.

What’s one thing about your work that people rarely get to see? Let's talk 😌

Did you know August 1–7 is World Breastfeeding Week?

Breastfeeding is often spoken about as something natural, but behind it are real mothers who need information, encouragement, understanding, and support.

From the benefits for babies to the importance of supporting mothers, there’s so much more to the conversation.

As World Breastfeeding Week comes to an end, I’m using my voice to keep the conversation going because supporting women’s health shouldn't be limited to one week. Let's strengthen what works.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about breastfeeding?

#WorldBreastfeedingWeek #BreastfeedingAwareness #WomensHealth #HealthAdvocacy #MaternalHealth by @faith_egede

I love planning.

Give me a project and I'll probably start thinking about the timeline, deliverables, logistics and all the things that could possibly go wrong. 😂

However, community work has taught me that a plan is only useful when you're willing to respond to what is actually happening.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is pause, listen and adjust.

Because the people we're serving aren't variables to control.

They're people with experiences, opinions, needs and sometimes… better answers than the ones we came with.

Programme managers, project leads, community workers... you know what I'm talking about. 😂

What's one thing you've had to completely change in a project because reality had other plans? or what your work has taught you to stop trying to control?

Tell me your “we had a plan until…” story in the comments section.
