She saved the world… a lot…

Tell me your favorite Buffy episode! (Also accepting favorite AtS episodes)

If you’ve met me for even the smallest amount of time you have heard me talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy is truly one of the most important pieces of media in my life and I am ALWAYS happy to talk about her (and her many friends)

A quick little portrait while I am finishing up my second rewatch of the year.

I broke my tooth! I have found myself in need of an emergency root canal in order to save it. Unfortunately, my dental insurance doesn’t cover my root canal, which will cost me $2600. I have uploaded a BUNCH of new prints to my Inprnt, and it would mean so much to me if you would buy a print or two. The link is in my bio!

I am always so grateful for the community I’ve built here, and I appreciate all of you so much!

That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates!

A little painting (and I mean little, around 5”x7”) of one of my favorite scenes from the Hobbit! Done in gouache and colored pencil. I had such a blast squishing all the dwarves into this piece!!

“Real magic can never be made by offering someone else’s liver. You must tear out your own, and not expect to get it back” (The Last Unicorn, 1968)

Here is a piece loosely inspired by The Last Unicorn! I am currently reading the book for the first time after a lifetime of loving the movie. Gouache and colored pencil on watercolor paper!

🎃💀🦇🌙👻I’ve been hand painting posters for our Halloween party every year and here is this years poster! Painted in acryla gouache and then touched up and type added digitally. This years theme is Return of the Night of the Creeps, and I’ll be spinning the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack on vinyl and screening horror movies on VHS!

Horror is without a doubt my favorite genre, but not one I get to really work in often! I love having the opportunity every year to pay an homage to the genre and movies I love so much. Happy Halloween!

Everything is feeling very topsy turvy but through it all we have each other. Take care of yourself and your neighbors, we are all we have got!!

Things are scary everywhere right now but I am so proud of the way communities come together to support each other. This illustration (and many others!) is available as a print on my inprnt, linked in my bio. Things are a little tight financially for me right now and I would be beyond grateful for any purchases of my work! But above all else take care of you, be compassionate to yourself, and know that we are here together, in this together, and will get through it together.

Sometimes at preschool when I’m showing them how to use new tools I make work that’s better than anything I make in the studio at home!! Here’s my demo on oil pastels at preschool, also featuring wormy’s paw (he was helping)!!

Happy book birthday to Melvina!!! Yesterday marked a year of sharing this story with all of you. Melvina is something so precious to me, and I am so proud of her and so grateful for everyone who shares her story with me.

I wanted to share here some behind the scenes of putting Melvina together, and take a look at my favorite spread in the book. I spent many, MANY hours reworking this spread trying to find the perfect balance of showing Melvina’s fears without literally showing them. The changes in this spread go all the way back to Melvina’s first incarnation as my senior thesis at PNCA! Here are some of the process sketches working up to the final version of the spread, which I am so proud of and never get tired of looking at. There are also some early sketches of some familiar faces, and a little look at the way I plot books out!

I cannot give enough thanks to everyone for all of the support and celebration Melvina (and I!) have received, but a huge special thank you to @megilnit for being an amazing editor and for believing in Melvina, @misster_cat for all of their incredible design work, @ammi.joan.paquette for being the best agent I could ever hope for, and @davidhohnillo for being such an incredible mentor and helping me figure out Melvina all the way back in 2020!

I am beyond grateful to be able to share all of this; telling stories has always been the thing I want to do and I am so lucky to be able to do it. I can’t wait to share more books with you all in the future!
