One of the hardest things I’ve had to accept is that I am not and never will be in control. I’ve had my life planned out since I could remember and these past three years have thrown me so many changes. Before I sleep at night, I make a list of the things I need to do the next day. I have a planner that is written out for the whole year of 2025. But I’ve come to notice perfection is not obtainable even though that’s what I strive for by planning out my every step. I’ve learned and believe that we are intended to be a beautiful mess in this world, that we will mess up because we are human, but if it breaks God’s heart what makes you think it will fulfill yours? Living in the present is genuinely so much more fun to live, if we can just let go and let God! Now this is not me saying I’ve got it figured out, but I am saying, that in this hectic world, I have found one constant. In these pictures, I feel like the softballs could represent the chaos of life, but sitting there with the Bible it looks still. That’s how I wanna remain in my faith! That’s why the song “Lifeline” has become one of my very favorites. Because I can’t stop the rain, but I know a Savior who pulls me out of the water every time and gives me a peace that’s unexplainable through those trials. He gives me the strength to keep going and to do so joyfully as a woman of God! Strength doesn’t always look like a smile, but also a cry out to Jesus when you don’t quite understand! So with all of this being said I pray to stay different and laugh without fear of the future as I continue to grow in His grace! I know this was long, but I felt it on my heart to share! Thank you for reading🩷

All I’ve known my whole life is throwing a ball, lacing up my cleats, and competing to win in this game. Between the chalk, it was game on. As I’ve played my four years of college ball, I can’t be grateful enough for each program and the lessons learned, the heartaches felt, and the friendships made. I will say, my last two years of ball didn’t go exactly how I imagined, but I hold my head high as each place has brought me so much more whether it be friendships or perspective. So for those who have asked what I would do differently, I’d say nothing at all. I have grown content in the fact of, the titles and awards never amounted to anything when it came to this sport because it was never really about softball to begin with. The love I have for each team that I played with outweighs all of the wins or losses. Don’t get me wrong, I love my natty ring and all, but as it all comes to a close, I want each of my teammates to remember me as a person that is always one phone call away! With that, I want to thank you softball for grace you’ve taught me, the love you’ve brought me, and the growth within me! Thank you Jesus for the blessings of this bittersweet ending!! 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙆𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙩𝙩 🎓

Next, we honor Faith Kivett, who joined Southern Miss for her senior season and made an immediate impact, appearing in 34 games for the Golden Eagles. Across her career, Faith played over 180 games and helped lead Co-Lin to its first-ever national championship in 2023 as the Division II Softball World Series Most Outstanding Defensive Player!

Faith will graduate with a degree in Health Science and minors in public health, and health policy and administration. After graduation, she plans to attend nursing school to receive a BSN in nursing with the goal of becoming a trauma flight nurse.

We thank Faith for her contributions to Southern Miss Softball. Congratulations, Faith!
