Wrapping up WEEKS of celebrating my 39th birthday and honestly… I don’t take ANY of it for granted and know im so so lucky. 💕 Alhumdulilah.

The best and most tricky thing about expat life is that ‘your people’ rarely come from one place and all your relationships here become little pieces of every chapter of your life! 🙌🏻 Old school friends you somehow find your way back to as adults, friends through work (yes, even the blogger world 😅), moms you met through your kids, neighbors who became reliable friends, the friend who started as a quick coffee after gym and somehow became part of your everyday life and SO much more. You learn to meet relationships where they come to you and become open to people from@different backgrounds, different life story’s than your own, different stages of life and so on. And it’s up to YOU to decide who deserves to@stay on to the next chapter and who deserves a scene write off. 😋

What may have looked like an extravagant birthday to you as a viewer was in reality different tables, different friend circles, different versions of my life… but somehow we all have something or the other in common and that’s what makes expat friendships special.

Oh, and if there’s one thing this year reminded me, it’s that you truly do get back what you put into people and relationships.
So; maybe this is your sign to go the extra step for someone you care about. Because love has a funny way of returning to you someday, somehow, often when you least expect it.

~The Middle Mom~ She’s a middle mom. There’s no longer a baby on her hip but she’s not yet misty-eyed and marveling over caps and gowns. If you look far enough in the back of her kitchen cupboard, you might even find a forgotten sippy cup. There’s a chance there’s a few bath toys left in a long unused bin. Because before she realized it, showers became the usual. She’s far ahead into motherhood to know it goes by very fast but not yet fully through the land of the little. She’s in the space that lingers between babies and bigs. And she’s soaking it in. She’ll read the ‘one more book’ whenever she can. She’ll hold the snuggles a little closer and a little longer. She savors it all as she can feel the rush of time. She grabs all of today because she’s a middle mom.

Tonight, Ali and I had the most special dinner date ever where we grabbed some chinese takeout and headed to our new home to have our first dinner together there! 🥰 MashaAllah.

I’ve been dying to share the news with you guys since I know so many of you have been sending me wishes and duas since I mentioned we’re being forced to move from our current home. But now that things are final, I’m happy to share that there’s a happy ending coming up after the bad news. It’s going to be a long journey turning this house into a home but InshaAllah to everything falling in to place. ♥️ taken in Dubai by @faizaali

I’m renaming Cherry cola brunette to Merlot mane

LOVED giving @faizaali this little transformation and she suited it so much 🥹

We don’t often do the colour as the extensions were enough to give the look of a balayage. BUT when Faiza messaged me to say she wanted to be more of a red brunette I was super excited 😆

Because it’s a change and Faiza isn’t used to colouring her hair every 6-8 weeks, I used a Demi permanent colour knowing her natural hair wouldn’t look drastically different, but the lighter pieces in her hair and the extensions would take more to the colour.

Doing this instead of jumping straight to permanent colour means we can bring it back to the original colour if we want to with way less hassle 😅

An ode to the mums who somehow make it all happen! 💪🏻

The fridge fills with everyone’s favourites, Lunchboxes are packed with each child’s very specific preferences in mind. And mealtimes? They somehow work around whatever mood everyone’s in that day. 😂

It can look like ordinary, everyday responsibilities. But behind it are a hundred little choices, remembered favourites and quiet acts of care. Maybe that’s how a house becomes a home. ❤️

I don’t need a bigger house. I just need this one to stop misbehaving. 😩😂 Thankfully, @ikeauae understood the assignment with ALL their brilliant home organization systems..even the most chaotic home become slightly better behaved with IKEA. 🤌🏼✨
