“Devour”

Milky Way over Sungai Wariu, Tegudon Village, Kota Belud.

Footnotes: Milky Way season's gonna end soon, so I've packed my bag, filled up on diesel, and hit the campsite. So grateful that my mission is accomplished.

The camera was an inch from the water but it was worth it.

This photo was shot in a single frame at 14mm f/4, ISO 4000. The foreground were light painted to embrace the scene.

Still mind-blown to me that the Z8 handles high ISO like a walk in the park and comes out with a truly clean file to work with.

“Fallen Stars”.
Swipe to see the stacking process.

201 images stacked into 1 single frame. Yep, I almost blew up the laptop. 😅

Startrails; Mount Kinabalu.

Yep, Mamahill is something too. Away from the city, with the great astronomy show possible.
Worth the hike.

A quick turnaround, looking for the missing colour.

Footnotes: The haze finally thinned down, meaning sunset colour is here to be embraced. by @faizabdnphoto

“Distant World.”

Milky Way over a vast paddy field, Kg. Sangkir, Kota Belud.

Footnotes: My mission was to get Mount Kinabalu in the frame, but the weather had other plans. It was hazy during the day and throughout the night. Maybe just another reason to come back here later.

“Charge Ahead.”

Black-winged Kite, on a paddy field - Sangkir Village, Kota Belud.

Such a unique bird as it will hover over the paddy field much like a drone before flying straight down to catch its meal. by @faizabdnphoto

My 2026 Photo trip with @jeffphotographer.co went well and sailed smoothly. Even though the road kinda sucks, the Pan Borneo is under construction along the way. Midday was kinda tough too as the hazy season makes us can't get any good photos during the day.

But fear not, as night comes, the sky is so crystal clear and the Milky Way is just so beautiful and up for its show.

I chose Kota Belud for a reason: retracing my core memories with my late dad. He introduced us to camping, adventure, and embracing nature. He will indeed be missed, dearly.

But, life goes forward for all of us.

Heres a few snapshots along the trip; wide angle, heavy zoom, I think almost everything in between. Well, I can assure you this is me relearning photography and it is good to be back at full force.

Looking forward to the best light, the world could offer.
