Lost in Translation
Bob Harris is an American film actor past his prime. He visits Tokyo to appear in a Japanese whiskey commercial, and he meets Charlotte, the young wife of a visiting photographer. Bored and weary, Bob and Charlotte make ideal if improbable traveling companions. Charlotte is looking for “her place in life,” and Bob is tolerating a mediocre stateside marriage. Both separately and together, they live the experience of the American in Tokyo. Bob and Charlotte suffer both confusion and hilarity due to the cultural and language differences between themselves and the Japanese. As the relationship between Bob and Charlotte deepens, they come to the realization that their visits to Japan, and one another, must soon end.

You don’t make up for your sins in church. You do it in the streets. You do it at home. The rest is bullshit, and you know it.

Mean Streets (1973)
Slowly rising through the ranks of New York City’s Little Italy Mafia, the guilt-ridden Italian-American Charlie, a Catholic in his own unorthodox way, feels a need to protect his reckless, defiant, and disturbed friend, Johnny Boy. More than anything in the world, Charlie wants out, bent on fulfilling his ardent aspiration; however, with Johnny being forever indebted to almost half the town’s dangerous loan sharks, chasing his dream seems like an impossible task. Little by little, as Charlie’s ever-increasing inner conflicts threaten to shatter his unswerving loyalty to his loose-cannon companion, he begins to realize that his painstaking efforts to change rapidly go down the drain.

Michael Imperioli as Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos is easily the most tragic TV Character I’ve seen.

The Sopranos
North Jersey mob boss, Tony Soprano, self-described “waste management consultant,” reluctantly seeks a psychiatrist’s help after blacking out. Lest he appear weak, he must keep his therapy a secret from the rest of the Mob. He’s stressed: his teenage daughter is giving his wife fits; his mean-spirited mother refuses to move to a retirement community; his aging Uncle Junior, jealous of Tony’s rise to the top, won’t stay in line and engineers a plot to kill Tony; and the feds, armed with RICO, are circling. In therapy, Tony must come to terms with his father’s example, his mother’s manipulations, and his own fears of death and loss of family.

Christopher Moltisanti is the most tragic tv character there is.

Code name, Ladybug, is a hitman who’s had difficult times and is working with a therapist to reduce stress in his life and to be more positive. He’s actively trying to be less violent. He’s given an assignment to steal a briefcase from a moving bullet train. Unfortunately for Ladybug, the case is in the possession of other hitmen. Oh, and there are also several other dangerous people and 1 snake aboard the train. As the journey progresses, the briefcase changes hands several times and the reason so many violent people are on the train becomes apparent. The plot is carried on by the device of sudden cuts to earlier events to explain how the current situation develops.

Boogie Nights (1997)
Adult film director Jack Horner is always on the lookout for new talent and it’s only by chance that he meets Eddie Adams who is working as a busboy in a restaurant. Eddie is young, good looking and plenty of libido to spare. Using the screen name Dirk Diggler, he quickly rises to the top of his industry winning awards year after year. Drugs and ego however come between Dirk and those around him and he soon finds that fame is fleeting.

Every war is different, every war is the same.

Jarhead (2005)
Jarhead follows „Swoff,“ a third-generation enlistee, from a sobering stint in boot camp to active duty, sporting a sniper’s rifle and a hundred-pound ruck on his back through Middle East deserts with no cover from intolerable heat or from Iraqi soldiers, always potentially just over the next horizon. Swoff and his fellow Marines sustain themselves with sardonic humanity and wicked comedy on blazing desert fields in a country they don’t understand against an enemy they can’t see for a cause they don’t fully fathom... Sergeant Sykes is a Marine lifer who heads up Swofford’s scout/sniper platoon, while Troy is Swoff’s friend and mentor, a die-hard member of STA - their elite Marine Unit.

Compositions in Paris, Texas

Paris, Texas
Four years after he disappeared without a trace, Travis Henderson reemerges in the small US border town of Terlingua, Texas, where his Los Angeles residing brother Walt Henderson must retrieve him. Travis, looking a little worse for wear, is initially mum about everything that has happened in his life in the intervening years, especially why he and his wife, Jane Henderson, individually abandoned their lives and their marriage which resulted in who was their then four year old son Hunter Henderson being dropped off with Walt and his wife, Anne Henderson. Believing that Travis and Jane had both since died, Walt and Anne have raised Hunter as their own, he who does not generally remember either of his biological parents. Travis’ return is thus bittersweet for Walt and Anne who have to decide what to do about Hunter and his relationship with his biological father, which nonetheless is strained in Hunter not really knowing Travis. Travis’ return is not by accident as it is just the next step in he reconciling his life with regard to Hunter which involves his want to go to Paris, Texas, where he has purchased some property. But that reconciliation takes a turn when Anne divulges some information to him, which leads to a trip to Houston to make that reconciliation perhaps not more holistic but just in Travis’ mind.

MASSIVE SHOUTOUT TO Ali Taghaddosi (Master of Cinematography on youtube). HE’S THE MAN WITH ALL THE KNOW HOW FOR COMPOSITIONS IN CINEMATOGRAPHY YOU NEED. 💙💙💙
