Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895–1986) was an Indian philosopher, speaker, and writer. Though groomed by the Theosophical Society to be a prophesied messiah, he famously renounced this role in 1929. He spent the rest of his life traveling globally, teaching that "Truth is a pathless land" and that individuals must free themselves from all religious, psychological, and societal conditioning.

Core Philosophy :

Krishnamurti did not present himself as a guru. His teachings focus on the psychological transformation of humanity, emphasizing that society is entirely a product of the individuals who comprise it.

• The Pathless Land: He argued that truth cannot be found through any organized religion, dogma, priest, or ritual.
• Self-Observation: He taught that freedom comes from observing one's own mind and conditioned thoughts in the present moment, without attempting to alter or judge them.
• Relationship as a Mirror: He stated that we only truly understand ourselves by observing our reactions to our relationships with others and the world.
• Thought vs. Intelligence: He differentiated between intellect (the accumulation of knowledge and memories) and intelligence (a state of awareness that is free from past conditioning).

Historical Background

• Early Life: Born in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, he was "discovered" in 1909 by Theosophists Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater. They proclaimed him the vehicle for the "World Teacher" (Maitreya).
• The Break: In 1929, after experiencing profound spiritual awakenings, he disbanded the Order of the Star in the East—the massive organization built around him—and returned all money and property.
• Legacy: He established several alternative education schools and centers worldwide, including the Krishnamurti Foundation India, the Krishnamurti Foundation of America, and the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust in the UK.

Key Books

His extensive dialogues, essays, and public talks have been compiled into numerous books. Some of his most celebrated works include:

•Freedom from the Known
• The First and Last Freedom
• Commentaries on Living

Death Note explores how absolute power corrupts, challenging the idea that the "ends justify the means." It questions who gets to decide who lives or dies, suggesting that anyone who appoints themselves an absolute judge quickly turns into a tyrant.

The series focuses on several core philosophical and ethical themes:

Utilitarianism vs. Deontology: Light Yagami operates as a utilitarian, believing that killing a small number of criminals justifies creating a safer world for everyone else. Conversely, his rival L relies on deontology, insisting that murder is universally wrong, regardless of the outcome.

The "Ring of Gyges" Dilemma: The series is an updated take on Plato’s classic thought experiment about a ring that grants invisibility. It asks: if you had ultimate power with zero accountability, would you remain moral, or would your true, darker nature take over?

The Rajneesh Movement (1970s–1980s):
Pune Ashram: In 1974, he established an ashram in Pune, which attracted many Western seekers, offering a blend of Eastern meditation and Western therapeutic techniques.
Oregon Commune: In 1981, he moved to the United States, founding a massive, self-sustaining city known as "Rajneeshpuram" in Oregon.

Controversies: The community faced intense conflict with local Oregonians and US federal authorities, involving allegations of criminal activities by his followers, including immigration fraud and a bioterror attack.
Deportation: In 1985, he pleaded guilty to immigration violations, was deported, and subsequently denied entry by numerous countries.

Later Years and Legacy
