Going Indie was never part of the plan. But somewhere along the line I realized the plan had to change. Good books die on submission. Even better books die at acquisitions. I’ve been told no far more times than I’ve heard yes, and eventually I realized if I really wanted to see my career as an author expand I would have to stop spending years creating books just to watch them die on the acquisitions table.

Deciding to go hybrid and pursue indie alongside traditional publishing was terrifying. As a kid I was so shy and introverted about my writing that it took me a long time to fully believe in myself enough to even try to put myself out there. Fast forward five year and two books with a third on the way, I’m so proud of all that I have accomplished.

But this step was by far the most profound because for once I didn’t care about what anyone thought or believed about myself or my capabilities. I took a book that was so deeply connected to my heart that died on submission for a myriad of biased opinions and decided I would invest in myself and my future.

I hope anyone who sees my journey takes from it that anything is possible when you’re willing to put in the work and bet on yourself.

Now I get to hold it and I’m about to create something a little more special.

Any thoughts on what that could be??? 👀✨✨✨#amwriting #amediting #amreading #booksofinstagram #booksofig #booksbooksbooks #authorsofinstagram #authorssupportingauthors #authorscommunity #authorslife #booktok #houseofthedragon #hotd #fantasy #spraypaint #goldleaf #custom #DIY by @fallondewynter

🎉Today is the day!!! 🎉
THE BLACK BETWEEN THE STARS takes its first breath and is no longer my little baby—she’s yours to hold and devour 🥹🙌🏽😭⚔️

If you loved The Ones We Burn by Rebecca Mix, To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods by Molly X Chang, or crave enemies to lovers, non-western fantasy and morally grey female MCs who love to get their hands bloody—I think you’ll adore TBBTS.

I couldn’t be prouder of seeing this book come to life, and I’m so excited to share Sinadine’s journey with you.

My paperback copies have arrived and I am so in awe that I get to hold years of my life in my hands at long last. I first began drafting TBBTS in 2017, went on sub in 2018 and shelved her a year later after a very close call with a dream imprint.

Publishing isn’t a race, it’s a marathon, and requires tremendous amounts of emotional stamina to withstand all the rejections and false starts.

To anyone who is where I was in 2019, I hope you see this and it encourages you to keep pushing forward and to never abandon your dreams.

No isn’t never, it’s just ‘not today’. So don’t lose hope! 👏🏽✨✨✨
