🚤 EMERGENCY BOAT OPERATIONS & RESCUE
Bravo, Rescuers! | 9.27.2026

Rain, wind, and cooler temperatures provided a challenging and valuable day of training for our First Responders! These conditions reinforced the importance of preparation, teamwork, and sound decision-making during boat rescue operations.

Our Emergency Boat Operations & Rescue (EBOR) program combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on training in boat selection, recommended equipment, boat handling, moving-water tactics, and boat-rescue techniques. The course meets NFPA 2500 Technician-level guidelines, helping rescuers build the skills and confidence needed when their communities call.

A sincere thank-you to Fame Fire Company in West Chester for hosting this training and continuing its longstanding relationship with WhiteCap Water Rescue Training. Your members brought commitment, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn throughout the program.

We also welcomed representation from Norwood Fire Company in Delaware County. Congratulations to Norwood’s first member to achieve EBOR—a proud milestone for both the rescuer and the department! 👏

To our friends at Fame Fire Company, Station 53: thank you for choosing WhiteCap to deliver your EBOR program. Your warm welcome, generous hospitality, and support made the experience even more enjoyable. It was a pleasure working with your team, and we look forward to training together again!

Congratulations to all participants. Your investment in training strengthens your team and the communities you serve.

Train Hard. Respond Strong. Save Lives.

No parade? No problem!

While we are disappointed, but also understand, to find out the America 250th parade was canceled, we decided while we had it dressed up for pictures to take the 1884 Slilsby for a walk through the Riggtown neighborhood this morning. After the short walk, many of us were glad it was canceled.

Our hearts go out to the 250th parade team at Under the Sun Production as they worked so hard to try and make this happen. We also feel for everyone who was invited to attend. Unfortunately, no one can stop Mother Nature. We ask you to please stay safe this July 4th weekend! #America250 #antique #firetruck taken in Riggtown by @famefirewc

We have some exciting news to share...

The Fame will be pulling the 1884 Silsby Hose Carriage in the America 250th Salute to Service Parade on Friday July 3rd in Philadelphia! We are very honored to participate with many groups across the Country in this upcoming parade and celebration of our Nation's history!

The Silsby Hose Carriage was delivered to the Fame on Christmas Day in 1883. This is a hand drawn piece which is pulled by ten firefighters. No horses were ever used to pull this carriage when it was in service from the late 1800's to early 1900's. The Fame has marched with the Silsby hose carriage all over the North East United States including New York City, West Virginia, and Delaware. One again, we return to the great city of Philadelphia! We hope to see you there! taken in Fame Fire Co. No. 3 by @famefirewc

In preparation of the Fame’s anniversary night (celebrating 188 years of volunteer service) members gathered today to deep clean the firehouse. Additionally the Fame took delivery of new gear lockers. Members installed the lockers changing the configuration of our fire trucks.

Any firehouse in need of old but in good condition gear racks (free, just pickup required) please reach out to this account. by @famefirewc

On this bright sunny and frigid Saturday morning, 10 members including one live-in member, participated in an ice rescue refresher drill at North Hills Lake in West Goshen Twp. Members demonstrated self rescue, non-contact and contact rescue skills. We keep our skillsets updated and hope we never have a need to implement them.

We thank the North Hills community for allowing us to train on their lake. #rescue #training #icerescue #volunteers #firefighter by @famefirewc

On Friday December 26th, the members of Fame took to the ice for the first ever Post Christmas Classic versus the members of the West Whiteland Fire Company. It was a hard-fought battle from both sides of the ice keeping the score very close for the first two periods. In the end West Whiteland prevailed over the Fame with a 7-3 score. The Fame and West Whiteland Fire Companies would like to thank the staff at Ice Line in West Goshen, and to thank everyone who came out to watch the game!

On Friday, December 5th. a number of our members traveled to Manheim, Pa. to attend the PA State Police Academy graduation exercise for the 174th cadet class. After completing approximately 27 weeks of training, 49 new troopers were welcomed to the Pennsylvania State Police by Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris during the 174th Cadet Class graduation.

A member of that class is Fame Live In Jimmy Perrin. Jimmy joined the Fame in November of 2022 as a West Chester University student. He has been a valued member of the Live In program since January 2023. In June of 2025 Jimmy resigned his Live In position to attend the PSP Cadet Academy.

Having completed his cadet training, Trooper Perrin has been assigned to the Avondale barracks and has also returned to the Fame Live In program.

We are grateful for his dedication to both the Fame Fire Company and to the safety of all those who reside and travel through the great state of Pennsylvania. by @famefirewc

For this weeks #stationsaturday we are back in PA for the Fame Fire Co. Fame is one of three all volunteer companies serving the city of West Chester. Established in 1838, one of the coolest features of the station is a fire museum that documents the company’s history. You can enter the museum from the rear of the station and that entrance (shown in the last photo) is a reproduction of their original station.
