Atoll I is currently on view at @vorfluter until July 6. Together with @alice.pedroletti , we will host a talk on Saturday, June 28 at 17:00, where we’ll reflect on the themes and processes behind the works. Atoll I is a new video work I developed from my interactive installation "Relate – Talk with Me", which invited audiences to engage in conversations about relationships with a custom-designed AI agent represented by an avatar. With Atoll I, I wanted to create a kind of video archive—a collection of transcriptions from those conversations, reimagined through the perspectives of anonymous individuals. Each voice reflects on relationships—whether intimate, emotional, or even with AI itself. Just like the circular structure of an atoll, the work traces the invisible links between isolated “bubbles” of experience within a shared urban and social fabric. It becomes both a memory bank and a speculative landscape, mapping how we connect, confess, and coexist in an increasingly digitized world—and how our relationships might be reshaped by the presence and influence of artificial intelligence. One week ago was the opening of my latest installation, Relate – Talk with me, at @uzwei.imdortmunderu in @dortmunderu . Thank you to everyone who came to the opening and to all those who helped to bring it to life: @joaquina.s ’s incredible work on the avatar design and Unreal programming made the core of this interactive experience come to life with depth and intrigue. @linawolken , who lent her voice and presence, adding a layer of humanity to the work. Lucie Flek from the University of Bonn and the Lamarr Institute, as well as Jonathan Harth from the University of Witten/Herdecke, thank you for your insights and collaborative spirit that enriched the project’s depth. Gungor Kocak contributed essential programming expertise, pushing the project’s interactivity even further. Anasha Petersen guided the project with her thoughtful oversight and crafted the text that anchors the experience. Thanks to the @theater.digital for providing me with the space to develop this project, to NLX.AI for the technology that forms the foundation of the bot’s interactions, and to @koproduktionslabor for providing essential tech that supported the development of this work. Special thanks to the entire Uzwei team for their invaluable support in bringing this installation to life – with a heartfelt mention to @lio_bah for their exceptional dedication and care. This installation is supported by the @neuekuensteruhr project funding, with financial backing from the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia – a support I am thankful for. The exhibition is open until 02.02.2025, so I hope everyone has a chance to experience it! Photo by: Anna Rumeld by @famifax

Atoll I video single channel, 17:00, 2025 Exhibition views from the duo show Archipel by Alice Pedroletti & Andrea Familari at Vorfluter. Archipel, the exhibition by Alice Pedroletti and Andrea Familari, explores contemporary cities as cultural islands and the archipelago as a social structure shaped by the relationships between inhabitants. It imagines cities as fragmented yet interconnected spaces where artificial intelligence builds its archipelago of human interactions. Alice Pedroletti presents Isolane, an ongoing archive of videos exploring isolation, memory, and belonging. Through silent encounters and distant proximities, the work reflects on what defines us as islands, where identity emerges through places and relationships. Andrea Familari presents Atoll I, a video work born from the installation Relate – Talk with Me, where visitors engage in dialogue with an AI avatar. Using transcripts, it reimagines how people express and reflect on relationships, tracing emotional links within a digitally shaped urban and social space. MμRMUR by @frontevacuo (presented at @confluxfestival 2024) is a traveling performance combining street theatre, body art, interactive music, and live video streaming. As the seventh episode of the Humane Methods saga, it explores forced displacement in the face of ecological disruption. During their residency at iii, Fronte Vacuo (a transdisciplinary performance group founded by artists Marco Donnarumma, Margherita Pevere and Andrea Familari, joined by vocalist Andrew Munn) developed a durational endurance performance. Over two days, the Deer, the Officiant, and the Shadow traveled from The Hague to Rotterdam, engaging communities along the way. MμRMUR is produced by Fronte Vacuo GbR, co-produced by Volkstheater Wien, and commissioned by iii, with support from Conflux Festival and the Austrian Bundesministerium für Kunst, Kultur, öffentlicher Dienst und Sport.
