The people you love, all in one place. Just this once.

We thought they deserved to be celebrated, too.

Introducing @familiarfaces.photo , archival guest portraiture by For the Love of It.

Michael welcomes guests into our portrait studio, giving each person his full attention. Some are playful, others effortlessly elegant, and some a little theatrical. No two are quite alike.

Each portrait is printed in black and white on fine art paper, creating something beautiful and lasting for guests to take home.

And for you, a collection of the people who made your day so special. by @familiarfaces.photo

The life of his own party. Other than a few smirks, I don’t think I saw Rob do much of anything but laugh the entire night. by @familiarfaces.photo

A few favorite guest portraits from last weekend at @sunsettower. Thank you @gracelenox @tregfilms for inviting me to be part of your celebration. What a night.

Everyone brings something a little different to the chair. This was hers, and I loved it.

Hello! Some of you know me, and that’s how you ended up here. Others might know the always-curious and ever-expanding work of @forthephoto. However you found your way, thank you for taking the time to see what Familiar Faces is all about.

I can’t help getting a little philosophical here. Maybe it’s because Scorpio season is about to begin, or because I turn 40 next week. Or maybe I just like an excuse to be deep. The truth is, I’m grateful: grateful to be alive, to be making new work, to be collaborating with artists who inspire me, and to be meeting new people along the way. I’m basically as new here as you are, but I can already tell Familiar Faces is going to be meaningful, surprising, and a whole lot of fun.

Life is an unpredictable run of starts, stops, and everything in between. It takes contrast, awareness, and light to really know what joy is, and if you’re a human reading this (I hope you are), you know that in spades. Darkness and light depend on each other to be fully what they are. Maybe we could all take a note from that and look out for each other a little more.

Don’t worry, I won’t make you read a caption this long every time. I just wanted you to know a bit about who I am. I’m Michael, the photographer behind these portraits, and hopefully someday the one making portraits for the people you love.

Grace, between the toasts and the cake. I’m grateful she took a few minutes to sit down with me, and she did it with such ease and quiet confidence. All night, I noticed how she made time for every person in the room. That was really something special to watch.

No. 1 of ____, and the first of many portraits to come. I couldn’t be more excited to finally share Familiar Faces with you. Made with curiosity, good light and real enthusiasm, it’s a project for everyone, because here the guests are the story.
